'As the Espeon was testing their invention, their partner, an Umbreon with a rougher disposition, opened the apartment door to leave, just hoping whatever they were doing didn't start anything disasterous. He dodged any Pokemon hanging out in the hallway and lobby, leaving the apartment complex as he began his trek. As he walked, he let his eyes wander to the sky briefly. The moon glistened faintly up above, the stars drowned out by the holographic advertisements and building lights. As he walked, his mind started to drift back to an old memory...

"Y-en? Should I repeat myself? What was the first Pokemon city?" The rather tall Dragonite teacher's voice boomed.
"Uh... Silja Village in Kalos?? It was already called Pokemon Village before..." Y-en's voice was rather meek.
"... Correct!" The teacher replied in satisfaction, the Eevee sighing in relief as the teacher called on Flara, or at least at the time, Mary.
"Can you tell me what prompted the first wave of sudden evolu-" The Dragonite was interuptted by what seemed to me a communicator buzz. "... One moment."
As the teacher left, Mary seemed to quickly equip her writing tool and jotted down a note, passing it to Y-en. Out of immediate curiosity, he opened it up to check the contents.

"Hi! I don't know if you know me, but wanna be friends? As proof of loyalty, here's my stick of Pecha gum. No mind tricks required or whatever you do."

His thoughts were interrupted as he turned to a small shopping district, his mind redirecting to the environment around him. The air felt rather heavy, noticing the general uneasiness. Seems things are still normal today.

He slowly stepped to a small bar, hearing the faint bickering of two more Pokemon in the distance, but not entirely caring at this point. He stopped at a light and took a moment... Time to start another day of work.

imma try to explain some extra lore too:

This specifically is set around 200-350-ish years from what is currently happening in the Pokemon games. Shortly after the games era, Pokemon suddenly started having a rapid evolution in intelligence, the end result causing many Pokemon to have intelligence comparable to humans. Additionally as an odd result, around at least 50% of the Pokemon population are born with unique skills that can range from being able to change eye color, somewhat predicting the future, to even being able to breath air and breathe underwater.

At some point, some Pokemon got the idea to have cities that were mainly run by and built for them, these cities and towns popping up one by one. While these cities don't ban humans from visiting or living in them, it is usually rare to see them live within them. With the cities' claims of luxurious lives for their citizens, comes a rather dystopic reality, where the luxury seems to come for those who cheated to the top. Yet, for many souls, they have a hard time leaving.

anyway yeah I maybe should've turned this into a comic but I have a hard time committing to a comic so doing this instead fkjdhng
