Description
You awoke to the sound of cars honking at each other. You slowly rose your hand, waving them off.
“Trying…..to sleep………...WAIT WHAT!?” You quickly rose from the grassy ground, before running towards the trees near you.
‘Am I back home?’ You pushed through the bushes, coming up upon your old school building. You smiled a bit as memories came running up to you. ( quite literally….)
“Come on (Y/n)!” A younger version of (b/f/n) came running over to the side of you, before looking back. You stared in shock.
“What’s going on?” A younger you then came around the corner.
“Hold on, I’m almost there!” The younger you ran with your friend (B/f/n) playing a small game of tag in the woods near your school.
“Nice friend you have there.” You turned to face an older man. He was a spitting image of you, the few differences were that he was a bit taller, had grey hair and a short grey beard.
“Wait, …....Ghost!?” He nodded as he gestured to himself.
“Betcha you weren't expecting this.” You slowly shook your head as Ghost started to laugh. He looked back towards the younger boys, who were now playing a game of hero and villain.
“Could you…..possibly explain how there are three of us?” Ghost nodded as he started to walk out of the woods.
“Follow me.” He walked through a thick bush without a struggle. Hesitantly, you followed. Pushing the bush out of your way, you were met with a throne. Ghost stood over to the side looking over his shoulder at you. You walked out of the bush looking around the room, before looking back the way you came, meeting a blank wall.
“What the?” Ghost silenced you before mentioning you over to where he stood. You glanced over at the throne, where a tall man stood, cloaked in noble robes he looked down at two kneeling subjects. You nudged ghost.
“Isn't that the first Emperor?” He nodded before two servants entered the room with two cases holding …….something…. The emperor took the items in his hand before facing the two kneeling men.
“Rise! Shade the knight and (Y/n) the hero!” At the mention of your name, you glanced at Ghost, who only stared ahead. The two men rose revealing yourself, and a black haired male. You felt your eyes stare into the black haired male's head.
“Notice anyone familiar?” Ghost’s voice knocked you out of your intense stare.
“Uh, yeah, That guy reminds me of (B/f/n)....” Ghost raised an eyebrow at me, before turning back to the two men.
“On behalf of eliminating the Black Dragon that killed hundreds, I present you, Shade, with the imperial arms, Kage, the night controller.” He handed one of the items, which represented a necklace, and handed it to the Shade guy.
“His name seems really familiar….” Ghost rolled his hand, as a gesture of continuing.
‘Shade, Shade, Shade?’ You searched through your memories, before the picture of the letter came up.
“Wait, this ‘Shade’ sent me a note. What does that mean?” Ghost shrugged smugly.
“You’ll figure it out soon.”
“I shall take it with pride your majesty.” The Emperor then turned to the other (Y/n), picking up the one that resembled a ring.
“And on behalf of saving the entire empire, the people living within it, and winning the war, I present you, (Y/n), with the imperial arms Yūrei, the fire manipulator.” He then handed the ring to the other you, which put the ring on his finger.
“I shall take it with honor, your grace.” The emperor looked at the two men before whispering something to a servant. He then faced forward again gesturing them to follow. You looked back at ghost who started to walk towards the throne, you followed him behind the throne, where curtains were laid out like a door. You then came up to Shade standing over ‘you’, a shadow like blade inside of ‘your’ stomach.
“Shade? Why?” Shade started to laugh like a man as he looked down at a broken (y/n).
“Why? To become Emperor of course! I now have all the power! Not you! You no longer have anything!” He laughed even more before sending a black sword into his chest over and over again.
“Die! Die! Die! DIE!” You looked back at ghost who was standing at the open door, gesturing you to follow. You both ended up in a room that only held two chairs. He gestured at one of them before sitting in one himself.
“Take a seat.” You sat beside him, an awkward silence filling the air. Ghost took a deep breath before closing his eyes.
“I’m sure you have a lot of questions, now is the time to ask them.” You nodded as you searched for the right words.
“Yeah....uh....Who exactly is Shade?” Ghost sighed, before looking at you deadly serious.
“My brother.” You nodded.
“So that’s why he claims to be mine?” Ghost nodded, before moving his hand through his hair.
“And like us, there are two of him.” You raised an eyebrow.
“What do you mean?” Ghost rolled his hand as a ring appeared in it.
Like our imperial arms, Shade’s can hold the soul of the last user if they so please. But, unlike ours, the user becomes corrupt with power.” The ring in his hand goes up in flame as he crushes it into a fist.
“So...He took someone from my world?” Ghost nodded.
“Who?”
“Think about it.” He then went silent as you started to compare Shade to other people, but only one name came close.
“(B/f/n)!?” He nodded. You stared in shock.
“Are….you serious?” He nodded again.
“But, why would he join the Empire?”
“As I said before, the imperial arms corrupts them to the extreme. They lose their minds..” He then looked at you questionally.
“You understand? You're gonna have to fight and kill him.” You stared at him with wide eyes, letting everything sink in.
“(y/n)?”
“Yeah, I-I understand. So...there’s no saving him?” Ghost shook his head slowly, as a dead silence developed your conversation.
“So how dangerous is Shade?” Ghost looked back into your eyes, a deadly fire developed inside them.
“You know how powerful Esdeath is, I’m sure?” You nodded.
“Shade is more powerful than her.” This caused your eyes to widen.
“What exactly does his imperial arm do?”
“Just like ours, it controls an element. In his case, the shadows. Fighting power actually…”
“So could someone like Akame defeat him?”
“No, he can create soldiers from the dark that can only be harmed by few imperial arms, ours included.”
“So, we might be the only one to be able to fight Shade head on?” Ghost nodded.
“Well I guess we can defeat him together.” Surprised, Ghost looks at you as you raise a hand for him to shake.
“I mean after all, we are the same.” Ghost nodded slowly before grabbing your hand. You and Ghost sat there for a second. Both of your gazes locked as you smiled at each other.
“We’ll defeat Shade once and for all.” Ghost laughed as his grip tightened.
“Damn right. Now how about you wake up?” White greeted your vision as you opened your eyes. You heard a chair move quickly beside you, before hearing two voices speaking.
“He’s up!?” You slowly tried to make sense of where you were, as your vision returned to normal. You squinted around the room that you have been living in for the past few months. You felt a surging pain come from your side as the encounter with Kurai ran through your head.
‘Dammit, almost forgot about that...’ You breathed in and out slowly as the pain went away. You heard the door open, causing you to glance at it. Najenda and Mine stood at the door, both of them looking at you worried. You lifted an arm to wave, only to stop moving because of the pain. Mine came over to you, allowing you to see her wrapped up arm.
“You shouldn’t move so quickly. You're already injured enough.” She then grabbed a few bandages as Najenda pulled up a chair beside you. Mine then unwrapped the bloodied bandages from your head before replacing them with some new ones. After she finished Najenda nodded in the direction of the door, hinting her to leave. She then walked to the door, stopping to face you.
“(Y/n)?” You looked back at her as she slightly blushed from embarrassment.
“Thanks for saving me.” She then walked out before you could say anything. From beside you Najenda lightly coughed. You looked over at Najenda, who took a cigarette out. She then gestured for you to light it, so you snapped your fingers, causing a small flame to appear on your index finger, you then held it out to her cigarette, causing you to flinch slightly because of the pain, before lighting her cigarette. She closed her eyes as you pulled away.
“So, mind explaining why you disobeyed orders?” You swallowed heavily as she stared at you with a murderous look on her face.
“Uhh, I-I’m sorry…” She then chuckled darkly.
“Why would you be sorry?” You looked at her with a raised eyebrow, which caused her to laugh gently, losing the evil glare.
“Without you doing that, Sheele would be dead for sure, Mine as well.” She then lightly put her mechanical hand upon your shoulder.
