The model is a beautiful man.
In his nude and natural state his skin and hair appear to want to blend in with the patterns on the wood, as if nature were trying to make him a part of it. This illustrates how in his natural state man truly becomes a part of nature; clothes would make him contrast from his surroundings, and separate, casting him into a synthetic world. Clothes create two co-existing entities: the man and the garments. Eventually nature claims both, showing how separation is merely an illusion.
