AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAI'MSOFUCKINGMISERABLE.This took forever to complete. The original screenshots have such little detail it was difficult to salvage anything, but oh well.
Alright, so the reason Ace is b&w until the end is to display how he's finally realizing that his life wasn't a mistake, he can die in peace because he knows that he had someone who loved him all along, and he was never truly alone. Luffy of course being a sort of light throughout his entire life. Luffy is very secure in his reality, he doesn't seem to dwell on negative feelings at all in fact, so when Ace is murdered in front of him he looses his hope, his color.

And now I'm sobbing. I know this scene is sad for everybody, but it really gets to me because I have a younger brother and he is my best friend in the whole world. I would sacrifice anything for him, including my life. I would put myself between him and harms way, the same as Ace, because nothing terrifies me more than him dying. You really captured the emotion of the scene, like god damn.

Let me just start with saying: holy shit, Akainu!! The way you drew him made him almost nightmarish and scary as f***!! Right, got that out of my system. This entire thing is... I can't find a word strong enough to describe it. To just call it good would be belittling your hard work to create all these images. It is very admirable, that you managed to redraw all these scenes and create an entire sequence, and it's even more admirable that you made every each one of these pictures beautiful and detailed and just amazing! I really liked the symbolism with the colours, it gives the entire sequence an extra touch. And the pictures are so well done! I particularly love Ace in the last two frames, and the way you drew Luffy in frames 7, 8 and 9. But I love this whole thing so much! Brilliant work, PlanarShift, you're amazing for creating such a huge piece of art, taking the scenes from the series and making it your own!
