Randy: So....Now you became the top scarer...how do you feel about it?
Randall: Its very hard...Suvillian is the best in the Scare record and I am on second place , working with Fungus my minion.
Randy: but its must been great isnt it?Β and uh.. Mike is he still friend with you?
Randall: Not anymore , he got befriend with Sulley and now we're barely talk...I feel so lost and empty inside.
Randy: I guess it must be hard for you...maybe there is something you can fix to make Mike your best chum again.
Randall: I still dont know I can trust them. They beat me up with a little girl and throws inside a door that leads to the human world and I got banished up...but somehow I was enable to escape from it....I dont know what should I do now.
Randy: Try to talk with them....maybe he will accept you once again.
Randall: I'll try , maybe there is still a chance they will be not afraid of me.
Randy: Good luck , Randall.
Randall: thanks...Randy.*Randall walk away and rushed to the Boo's bedroom*.

It's like Randall is seeing who he used to be, after attending Monsters University, he started running away from himself and refused to show weakness.

I found this picture first when I was during a google search for pics of Randall that I could use for an art project. The first song that came into my head when I saw it was 'Reflection' from Mulan. The second was 'Landslide' by Dixie Chicks. But the second came only after I went over the movie in my head. Then I remembered him getting beat up with a shovel by an old Cajun lady. Lol!Β

Well, ROR certainly exploited him more as a recourse than a friend. I don't think they cared for Randall at all as a person, really just had him here for kicks. I'm sure that added to his bitterness that later led to him becoming so spiteful as he grew older

Yes, they only needed him as 6th member. In both movies he appeared in, he played number 2 ( M.I ) or just sidekick ( M.U ) for main villains ( Simply, he wasn't MAIN villain. Villain, but not very important one ) and because how exited he was to have Mike as friend, not mentioning they were both nerds... this kinda made me think if Randall isn't type of person who feels he should be like person who he is inferior to. When he was friend with Mike, who was nerd at that point, he became nerd ( if he wasn't before ). When he became member of ROR and we know ROR are bullies, he became bully. When he was helping Waternoose, who was kidnapper, he became kidnapper. I was also like that few years ago...

I think we've all been subjected to stereotypical groups like that. I went from wimp to angry bully to life crisis to chill XD I just wish Randall had the chance to reach some sort of resolve

Oddly enough, I really didn't think about it at all XD I was just doodling and this happened, so was like "eh, it looks pretty okay" and ended up coloring it. Odd how the pieces I spend little time on are infinitely more praised than the ones I spend hours on haha Thus is life I supose

Before I get all sentimental, I'd like to compliment the artwork's technical quality.
First off I love Randall's lithe and curvy lizard body. The curve of the spine, the slight slouch at the base of the neck, the strange posture, the gradual shape change of his skinny arms, and the chameleon fingers that spread out.
I can really follow that spine and understand how his long lithe body moves with it.
(One of the things I really like about him is he's really tall and skinny, it reminds me of my big brother.)
I'm also extremely impressed by the head. I've recently tried to draw Randall myself and with all the reference google images could give me I know his head by far is the hardest of his shapes to get right.
ESPECIALLY in profile- I'm still trying to work it out.
Then to expressions.
I really connect with the faces of both Randys. The one in the mirror has wide and bright young eyes that are slightly sad, and a sweet little smile. Older and bitter Randall has that tired squint with the rows of rings under his eyes.
He looks tired, and has the slightest hint of contempt.
I think I can really see what younger Randy is trying to say, even though I can't really say it properly myself in words.
Like he still believes that older bitter Randall is not too far gone.
I often looked back at myself, and every year I'd say something different. I've grown less naive, and also more suspicious.
No one never really throws away their old selves. We disagree with them, some of us hate them, but we never really throw them away.
I can really see how Randall would look back at when he was more innocent and vulnerable, but also more stable and generally happier. I wonder what they'd say to each other. I think only Randy knows that one.
I loved Randy as a person, and I respected him as a villain.
You've really brought out the best in both.

I can see him in an old abandoned locker room in the human world, looking himself in the mirror here and seeing his college self and saying to himself: "Randy, you have a lot of pain coming to you these next couple years..."
I never saw Monsters University, but from what I'm hearing it seems like Pixar is feeling sorry for Randall and wanted to redeem him somehow by showing how he used to be before he became a conniving schemer who would go to lunatic lengths to secure an ounce of power to his name and why he would even think of becoming that.

I finally got around to watching MU. There wasn't as much Randall in it as I was hoping to see, and they were a bit shallow in his motives to be so competitive with Sulley, but at the same time I'm really grateful they included him at all XD He was always my favorite <3

Well I thought they pulled it off rather well, to be honest.
Sulley's roar caused the quake which caused him to blend in with the flowers and score the lowest out of anyone competing in that event. His teammates, being (Let's face it) a bunch of jackasses, kicked him out because of something that wasn't his fault. Then, the way his voice changes from the more innocent voice he had in most of the film to the evil, sneaky voice from Monster's Inc., and the way he angrily scowls signifies that he's lost all of his innocence and that something's changed inside of him.
While Randall didn't have too big a role, I did think they gave a reasonable explanation for why he went from being so nice to a complete and utter douche.
