Description A collaboration between Ginny Giles and myself.......she has traveled many times to the Middle East and created this scene with things she had acquired in those travels. Included are a few pieces my parents purchased from our living in Turkey many years ago.......
Ginny is also one of the models......Thank you, Ginny for your exceptional creativity and grace!

Thank you Sarachmet...... Ginny did most all the creating except for the lighting......she is an exceptional artist, designer, and photographer. You should see her studio space - it is like no place i have ever seen, with the most wonderfully strange art all about and a stunning hanging mobile that she made with old chandelier crystals.....so magnificent when the light shines through!

the studio looks incredible then, i would never say it's a part of arranged scenery, looking so natural, as if it was taken in some harem or a temple years ago... truly stunning piece!

this actually was shot in my old studio/live space...it was a converted warehouse, where i lived and worked for 12 years......it had a lovely darkroom, a beautiful garden in the back yard, and a large shooting area.
Ginny had brought all her props over and created it right there..... : <>

Unfortunately, the building was quite toxic and after having severe respiratory problems for several years, i finally decided to move out.....which worked out well in the end and i totally regained my health!

did you happen to find another nice darkroom, and a garden in the back yard?

When I moved, I started doing darkroom work in a rental darkroom, but quit shortly thereafter, because i decided it was not wise to continue being exposed to the chemicals......i missed the magic of it all, but now i do digital instead.....
I did create another garden (however, i am NOT an accomplished gardener , but sooooo respect those who are!) - I just feel very fortunate to have space to enjoy the flowers and trees!

you can still make it an occassional thing, using a rented darkroom from time to time...though i suppose that post production of photographs taken with digital camera can also be a haunting activity... actually i had an occassion to use a darkroom only twice or so in my life and that was a unique experience but I'm afraid with my will to complete the final idea of the photograph as soon as possible after the shot is taken, wouldn't make it a desired activity in my case

it is true, the darkroom demands huge amounts of time and it puts one into an altered state of mind where there is no time........i would try to spend one night every weekend in the darkroom and make sure to eat chocolate for dessert (along with a glass of merlot) to give me bit of a lift ........ it worked every time! as fun as it was, i could never go back.....

you are an extraordinary photographer and artist no matter how you process your work! i think your work will outlive that of many other very highly respected artists..... : ))))

thank you so much for your support in kind words...the truth is that i don't need an analog , but would undoubtedly require some better digital equipment... and a bar of chocolate with a glass of merlot sounds nice ven withou its excuse for being used after a da in the darkroom...

hi Seano-
Thanks so much for your visit....
It was actually lit with strobes and it was a very hot summer night with no air conditioning, so they look quite warm and indeed they were sweltering in the heat!

So beautiful. Was this painted with light? The slight blur in the image gives me the impression that the viewer is taking a voyeuristic look into a forbidden or intimate scene.

Stunning.
