Okay, so on my way back home from Vermont yesterday I had my laptop open in the car, and I made that kickass timegate you see in the background. Then I looked at my creation and though to myself, "Damn, I can't let this go to waste, sitting on my hard drive..."And thus, I give you Marle's first unintentional trip to the past, caused by Lucca's malfunctioning telepod. Fullview please, the preview is godscursed tiny.

The portal? Well, first, I made the general shape of the timegate as seen in-game. Then I did a wacky thing with lens flares, chrome, and distortion filters related to the tutorials here: [link] [link]
Afterwards, I stuck a generic starfield over it with Lighten blending mode. I did all that in grayscale, and adjusted the color balance of it until it was the right shade of blue. The real trick is to keep loading filters onto it and not to be impatient.
