Okay, so on my way back home from Vermont yesterday I had my laptop open in the car, and I made that kickass timegate you see in the background. Then I looked at my creation and though to myself, "Damn, I can't let this go to waste, sitting on my hard drive..."And thus, I give you Marle's first unintentional trip to the past, caused by Lucca's malfunctioning telepod. Fullview please, the preview is godscursed tiny.

Whoa, this is an awesome rending of the scene from the game! Great work on both Marle and the gate! Composition is about perfect, too! Very reminiscent of Marle's sprite!

it's not a malfunction that caused it,but rather a reaction to Marle's pendant.anyways,this is a unique piece as far as i know cause it seems no one portrays that scene.and it's very well done

i saw a thumbnail of this, I was like "hm, that looks really familiar", and of course it's because it's from one of my favourite games of all time, Chrono Trigger.

I used a metric ass-ton of layers and lots of blurring and brushwork for the primary swirly pattern that's what you see in-game. Also I used elements from a bunch of warp-effects tutorials and a night sky tutorial for the detailishness. Here are some links to the tutorials that have the principles of how I made this:

[link] Best starfield tutorial in the world - instead of using the standard dusty pattern for the nebula work in the timegate I used the "Satin" texture

I picked the background for its canonical relevance to the game... it's supposed to resemble the wispy clouds at the End of Time. I figured that a background resembling the inside of a Timegate would be too busy and colorful and distracting.
