This wonderfully colorful...when I look for pictures or drawings or anything at all, I want to find colors that are realistic, yet dreamlike. Your art is both, and I love it.

With all the respect that I have for you both as an artist and as a fellow human-being I'm afraid I'm going to ignore your request and leave out any technical comment that I might have in mind.
What I am going to say is this piece gives me hope. The hope that something in this universe actually looks similar or identical to this piece. That there is indeed a combination of colors and shapes that perfect that it gives birth to an image that is almost magical in its being. I find myself losing grip and contol over my eyes looking at this piece. The golds magentas, the circular, flowing shapes, the ambience (that was previously mentioned by a certain intelligent young man before me), they all fall together into a whole world of beauty.
I may not like the composition, but I think it's also completely irrelevant. See, the brilliance of this piece is in the way it forces your eye to capture a certain area in it at a time, and every signle one of those specific areas is perfect in its composition of shapes and colors.
This inspires me. It makes me feel warm. It makes me dream.
Forget the composition, and forget the technical detail. It's the feeling that counts and it cannot be translated into computer language, however it can be translated using it - from human emotions to imagery and back to human emotions.

Really nice work...the clarity, mixed in with the aura around the planet is a nice mix. If I were to give ANY criticism, I would say that there's almost TOO much clarity, but I truly enjoy this piece...I'm a sucker for spacescapes, and this is a really good one. FAV for sure. Keep up the great work!

well i havent read all the comments but If it was already answered Im sorry... But did you use tutorials on the planets or just figured it all out yourself and used your own way?? I want to do planets like that and gregs tutorial can only take you so far.

I used tutorials to learn, as they should be used; then basically I got to this stage by experimenting like crazy.
If you're in need of a much more in-depth planet tutorial than *sirgerg (Greg)'s, try ^alyn 's.

My god, the colours that make up the planets are brilliant. That is such a nice image to view full screen on my monitor in darkness.
My only gripe is perhaps the stars in the background are too bright IF you have icons on the desktop (it doesn't make the text look to neat), but generally I have icons turned off anyway. And why not with such an excellent picture to view.

very awesome render. one thing that coulda been done differently was the moon, color wise, to make it stand out more from the planet.
