swell place (at least during the day...), nice render! just a random scene, or anything it reminds you of?

Thanks, in every town there is that house with a reputation that even during the day people hesitate to visit. At night in the dark nobody comes.Β

i see... well i'm one of those nobodies who probably wouldn't even visit in the daytime - you can feel the vibe from afar

ikr?
... that's prolly why i'm living - for the 2nd time - alone with my felines in an isolated house in the countryside/outskirts where there's only a shop/garage next door which is, of course, deserted at night... leaving us in the literal middle of nowhere (almost) in the dark (ok, street lamps+road half a mile ahead)

I never think of Switzerland as dangerous especially in the countryside.Β Here most definitely.

ok, you got a point - compared to... pretty much anywhere else, people here are quite tame, included the far less outcasts. our levels of danger must seem laughable to anyone in the US. ^^

Just want assurance that I didn't have a travel brochure understanding of the place. While we have more than our share of incidences here it's not like we fear 24/7 other than the rise in Authoritarianism.

nah you've got it, no clichΓ©. same here, i know that while the rate/violence overseas might be higher, it's not like living in an action flick - and a vast majority lives rather peaceful lives. also, the propaganda of fear spread in- and outside the borders is doing a good job in helping said rise, but like in commercials, i don't believe every thing i see/read ~

It's going to be an interesting year in the US. There was a lot of political flexing in the House today!

have to check it out online.. i live without tv, never read the papers, in short i generally avoid news including on the web - they either scare me or piss me off, i really can do without. but occasionally, it's good to have the internet when everybody talks about a subject or another... usually means it's kind of important. that way, they filter for me ^^
one thing is sure, i thought about maybe 10 years ago the US peeps couldn't possibly elect "that" guy, and then re-elect him for a 2nd turn! or at least they would learn from it. seems they didn't, or maybe some magic happened on election day ~

He didn't win the popular vote, losing by 3,000,000 votes but by the Electoral College (it's complicated). He's still in his first term, 2020 is the next election. I'm against Authoritarian government whether it's Conservative or Liberal and of course Theocratic forms as well.

yeah i tried to have a go at understanding the US election system.. this thing with "big electors"(?) or something. occasionally, i get it for a short moment after i read/see something, but forget it immediately. politics is def not my thing, my brain just goes on strike ~

btw, i doodled US news.. and read about this shutdown.. wow, i'm amazed. for gov employees, a major catastrophe, and for the country's functioning, what a chaos. to think that he's responsible for those troubles just to get his will, it's so irresponsible, as a father of the nation - like a kid throwing a tantrum! don't tell me he's really gonna get his wall *mega face palm* ~

me too, me too, all 3 suck big time. not sure what should replace the systems in place, but whatever has been tried all over the planet in the last centuries/millennia definitely didn't work ~ letting people do what they want doesn't either tho, i'm quite the misanthrope and i don't trust any member of the human race to not behave worse than a beast. might have worked with a few scattered tribes in the prehistoric ages, but with 7-8 billions, nope...

Tried to write an explanation but DA is really glitchy tonight and keeps dumping my response
so after typing 3 long messages I give up. Couldn't respond in a timely manner. Sorry

it's ok, thank you anyways. if i really really wanted to know, i have the whole web to research. but it would be pure curiosity, general culture, and i would forget it immediately - i followed the 2008(?) election with a friend on tv, cuz i thought it might change things, and saw all procedures, but my brain erased this knowledge as prolly not essential... actually, imagine that, i haven't even known for the past 5 years or so who is OUR president ~ not that ours would have much of an influence on anything inland or abroad, but still...
my life atm runs on such a small tiny scale that 1 single night of frost can have a major impact, laughable 10$ can make a difference, and the sickness of one of my feline companions is more tragic than the death of ten heads of state.

about comments forms crashing etc, when i write a longer bit here or on forums, like the source/credits on my pix on DA or this very comment, meanwhile i use notepad and then copy-paste it over - because this crap has happened to me too ^^
hey, maybe BB has infiltrated DA and unleashed a bot deleting unsuitable comments

The news seems a bit hopeful today as the House of Representatives is moving on a anti-corruption bill, but we will see.

portisHeart In reply to Platycerium [2019-01-04 19:31:40 +0000 UTC]

honestly? isn't corruption illegal already, hence it's why it's called, well... corrupt?
or does it that mean that with this bill everyone included the elite is punishable and not protected by any status any more? or that the enforcement will be more efficient (with the adequate financing of manpower taken from people's taxes, lol...)?
haha they should have voted that one BEFORE the election
imho it won't make a difference, the bribes' amounts will just increase - but you tell me.. why does this make you hopeful?

It would create a stand alone department separate from rest to investigate tax documents of all Presidents, business dealings, corporate financing, etc., etc. but we'll see.

portisHeart In reply to Platycerium [2019-01-04 19:56:44 +0000 UTC]

absolutely genial idea, and sorely needed - in every nation. but how can they make this department... incorruptible?
now, why does this happen right now, since there were 44 other heads of state before, huh?

Platycerium In reply to portisHeart [2019-01-04 21:20:42 +0000 UTC]

Well as I said we'll see. This is a chance to see if democracy works or if we'll turn into an oligarchy like many others.

ugh.. since we're increasingly ruled by multinational concerns all over the place, i think we have already turned into a world-wide oligarchy.. except maybe for the places where pure & simple dictatorship overrules even the multis... now you see why i avoid news, politic etc :/
