Yesh!!! I love those lil' things Mines a female, I don't have any pictures of her but I tryed my best to make her look like a real echidna =3 I strayed away from the way they have beaks though, I just gave her the htf heart nose and made her muzzle longer. She has I pouch too
Lol, Here I am messin' with the laws of echidna physics, giving an echidna a pouch year round X3

Well pouches are for marsupials and Echidnas are monotremes so I think they place their eggs in burrows.

Actually, Female echidnas devolope a upside-down pouch in the months of July and August- aka mating season, and they carry thier egg in there =3 I think all female Monotremes, or in this case just echidna and Platypus, have pouches at one point in the year, but like I said. Frenzy, my echidna htf, has her pouch year-long. Anyway, I don't see anything weird about animals belonging to two different orders I guess Female echidnas could be like... Monotramata/Marsupial..?

I think the order of Monotramata is awesome itself too!

Yeah! I've also noticed that members of the Monotremata order look like a mix between one animal and another.

They do!!! Exept I think echidnas are a mix of like.. 17 animals. I guess echidnas in general are porcuepine/anteater/duck or somthing like that. Then the male echidnas would have some rooster in them because of their spurs, then the females would have a bit of kangaroo with their pouches.

Are the spurs poisonous? Because male platypus spurs are poisonous.

I know that male echidnas do produce venom, but I think throughout the evolution of echidnas the venom flow stopped for some strange reason, so I don't think so.

But at the beginning of your sentence you said you know that they do produce venom, or were you mentioning platypuses?

I ment that their bodies produce venom, but their spurs just don't receive any because the venom flow to the spurs had stopped for some odd reason, It effects all male echidnas, though. Not like it's a disorder or an condition or anything like that. And yes, I was talking about male echidnas in the begining of my sentence.

So if the venom doesn't come out of the spurs then where does it come out?

CyberTheEchidna In reply to platypus12 [2010-06-16 19:04:25 +0000 UTC]
No where I guess.. Actually, I'm not quite sure if they produce venom at all anymore. It's hard to say.

But did you know that male platypuses produce venom?

As I heard, the venom of a platypus is harmless to humans and only causes swelling and pain.

I think that's true, but I think the venom can kill some dogs..
