Description
this is a painting i did waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in '94 of the ceiling in the library on Myst. I like how it turned out (i kinda suck at painting), except for that darn chandelier

I'm not sure... I haven't printed anything that large yet. There's also another problem... the original was in my basement and got water damaged and warped. And the only file I have is not a large enough resolution to print. BUT BUT BUT! It is a painting that I've wanted to redo for a long time now (it's over 20 years old!!! )... I'm not sure how soon you were wanting to have a print made, but seeing the original in my hands makes me want to redo it like now LOL So if you can wait... just stay tuned!

Very nice. I always thought there was something very special about that particular viewpoint. Why would they let you look up there if it didn't mean something. When I was little, and none of the following games/books had been made, I always imagined the points of the chandelier represented Myst's four Ages, D'Ni, and Earth (It hadn't been established that D'Ni and Earth were the same at the time), with Myst in the centre, acting as a sort of universal hub.

I know you added this YONKS ago, but I love it. Myst is still an all-time favorite game, and this painting does it justice perfectly.

I have all the games in the series, plus I snagged a PSP version of Myst. So yeah, a SLIGHT obsession with it...

I love Myst, too bad my old version doesn't work anymore. I also was really bad at it V>.> I did find some neat 3D remake, I believe it was called RealMyst? Played through that to the end (with help from a guide XD) But yeah, the library was one of my favorite places, and the ceiling was really cool looking. As for your painting, I really like the stroked look, and the colors are dead on.

Hoo boy, I don't know! I literally took a picture with a camera X3 and used the photo as the reference. And it wasn't a digital camera (did they even exist then?!). I mean, I probably have it somewhere, I would just have to find it.

Yeah, I don't. It's kinda weird that there really aren't any screenshots of it! The thing that sucks is I have the game right here but I have a computer now that uses Linux and it won't read clearly anyway. XP It's REALLY fuzzy. But hey, I'll let you know if I can get it, and if you don't mind, if you happen to find it let me know? I've wanted to re-do that painting for a while!!! It's kinda frustrating... it's such a pretty scene and there are no screenshots...!

Yeah, I've got all the games too, but my problem is I've got an iMac, and all my games are for PC.

Of all the views in that game, I hated that one the most. Everytime I saw it I knew I'd have to listen to more of Sirrus of Achenar... They still scare me...

Ya, they're brothers and Atrus (the owner of that library) was the father. Achenar was crazy, Sirrus was just plain evil : P

I've always made a point with the Myst games to look everywhere possible, from whatever angle. I found the necessity of it after playing Myst when in the tower above the library, I noticed that there were two sets of ladders. I kept telling my brother and dad (who were also playing with me) that I was absolutely positive that there were two ladders, and they finally believed me.
