Maybe it's not very clear, but the idea is intriguing... I like it, give it another try!

Splendida, ottima idea, buona realizzazione tecnica (mica l'avrai fatta col GIMP, spero!) e tutto il resto Un bel

Well, I'm used to work with Photoshop and you actually CAN'T compare The GIMP (nor 2.0) with it. I mean... GIMP is a useful toy but for professional graphics... I mean: I really hope that GIMP will arise to a professional level but for now... nothing to do.

I would not compare Gimp with Photoshop, but you should not talk bad about it: it's free (as in speech) software, and sometimes it's more important to be free than to do some bells and whistles in a snap with photoshop...

To be free software it's indeed an added value to me but for a project born in 1995 I would have expected something more than this. I'd like to use it leaving Photoshop but for the moment PS is the state of art and GIMP is merely still trying to do something like that. I mean: there are so much free softwares old as GIMP which do all the expected things and many more (I think to GNOME, KDE, Mozilla, OpenOffice...) why GIMP is still stuck at 1995?

Stuck at 1995? You've used the first version and the 2.0 and cannot grasp the difference?

Not so much. There are so many elements designed horribly... the choice to put all useful menu as a context menu of the canvas is a total crap and I couldn't find a way to put it on the top of the screen like I used to see in Photoshop running on Mac OS. Indeed the layer management is poor and it lacks the powerful effects which I have in Photoshop. Talking about the general effects, I must say that trivial tools like blur, noise and something similar is quite well done but I don't find useful all those plug-ins to do such special and sensational effects... I prefer a graphic software programmed taking in account all that big and small things that really care for a professional graphic and not by people that loves to masturbate only on their own advanced implementation of this and that theorem of high maths without caring if this would be ever useful for the daily work.

I'm with you on that, but I actually find Gimp pretty usable: maybe not simple and straight as photoshop, but usable.
I'm not an "artist", tough

i like how the hand fills up most of the top half & the way you made the eraser actually look like its erasing the picture. nice contrast too...great pic!
