In my headcanon, Lin was pregnant when she and Tenzin broke up, but she didn't know it. When she found out, it was too late and she decided it was for the best if he didn't know.
There's more to it than that, but I'll have to post the art to go with it before I go further.

There is a source, that's why there's a number next to the fact. If you follow it down to the link, you'll see that it was in the director commentary for an episode. If there weren't a source, I wouldn't have believed it.

wow this is awesome!! her son (i think it is a earth bender and a boy.) is like his mother and living in secret in a earth bending city (i don`t know because i did not see the first series of avatar the last air bender.) raised by a old woman seeking to find his father and plus he has a crush on korra and then he runs away to republic city to find his father but his mother (Lin) trys to stop him (this is a story idea i had but my dumb computer won`t let me post it so do u take requests please do!) i got his idea from your pic that`s how awesome it is

What kind of request do you have in mind? Two people have already asked me to write an accompanying fanfic--which is possible since I already have a story in mind for this idea. If I did end up writing it, though, it would be a oneshot for this picture in particular and my own storyline.

Erm...gay may be the wrong term.
But I think it would be best if you wrote out your story yourself. I would feel bad writing someone else's idea and then getting the credit for it (even though I would say it wasn't my plot--some people just don't read artist's comments...).

i know(lol) but i did write the story my self but it won`t post on Deviantart and i don`t care if u take the credit because i don`t hold a grudge and u and me both know the truth and a lot of other people DO read the artist`s comments so i don`t care if u do the story it would be nice to see it on Devianart plus my story kind a sucked so ya i think that u can do it better *puppy dog face* please

I was thinking the same thing when it became canon that they were together.
And it totaly fits Lin not to tell him she would probably be to proud ("to chain him with a child") though I think that is part of the reason they broke up he wanted children she didn't...
