You're getting so good at this! The shading is nice and smooth, and the effects on the telescope's lens is beautiful!Β

I think it's lovely, especially the soft shading on Twilight and the moon.
The telescope stands out a bit since it has cell shading instead of soft shading like Twilight.
If you want it to be more realistic you could work on the fur and the mane, I've seen drawings which looked like the artist had drawn tons of single hairs (not sure how they actually did it).
Edit: The base of the telescope (at her eye) is not clearly visible, so it looks a bit like the telescope is stuck in her eye (ouch).

the reason i went with cel shading on the telescope was from my reference. maybe a little blur couldnt hurt however. not too sure i understand reflective surfaces well enough, this was my first go at them.
oh yes i definitely know what you mean for both hair and fur. the illusion is really powerful if it is done well.. i may give it a try later, it would definitely help the realism as you say.
i hoped the black rubber would stand out from her face but not enough i suppose. thanks for the comment!

I think I figured out what exactly is the problem with the eye and the telescope:
People are used to telescopes being very narrow at the end, like that:
www.strickling.net/refrakt.gif
or that:

The reason is that it has roughly the diameter of a human eye. Now the pony eyes are ridiculously large so a telescope designed for them would probably have a larger diameter (like your drawing) but since we humans are used to smaller diameters it looks like half the teleskope is stuck in her head

ah you're right thanks for looking into it. often the basis by which we determine whether something looks "off" is our own personal memory and perception of it. i guess i haven't been around enough telescopes to pick it up right away

I have to say i really like the way you did the mane and how you did the telescope, the reflection in particular is really good

When she looked at the moon, she didn't just see Nightmare Moon, but also Rita Repulsa.

thanks it's pretty much continuation of the mane style hereΒ fav.me/d7tk3ao unfortunately i didn't have many ideas back then for the hair.
i don't think i want to take it much farther anyway. though it could be, there is some amazing vectored hair in the fandom

It's a really defining trait to develop you own hair/mane style as it's unique to you.
It doesn't help that its probably thew most grueling par to develop a style for though.
