ahh good ol' vf-103.. was in iraq with'em during the 2004 deployment.
pop the engines out of these birds and they are just one massive empty shell!
even as old as they were/are they were still beauties... barely working half the time, but beautiful no less
curious though.. how old is this image? they deconned VF-103 and reassigned them to VFA-103 with the 18's after our deployment.. yet this looks to have CVW-9 on its tail if i see correctly? we were CVW-17 at the time..
maybe they kept 200 on for shows? or its a special set aside non-squad?

True, last time I saw one fly was 1991.
Always loved them, was so sad when they were retired in 2006.

Real shame that private collectors can't get their hands on one of them now that the fleet of em is retired, let's just hope that Iran retires it's fleet and people can buy those (best via US buying the entire Iranian fleet to make sure all of em are accounted for.)

Wow, waaaaay off. I saw the tail of the C-17 in the background and saw that it was from March. Slightly embarrassing for me.
