LowlyWorm [2013-09-20 22:36:15 +0000 UTC]

Im really disappointed by all the arguing and hateful comments. Really people? This is an ART site. Here you will see ALL KINDS of art. Some that you like, and some that you outright hate. You are all, of course, entitled to your opinions and have the right to voice it, but to you don't need to be so downright mean! My art teacher said once that "You will see art that you think is really neat, but you will also see art that you say 'thats CRAP' to. You are allowed to say that it is 'crap', but the big thing is that you MUST have a reason. To understand art you gotta' understand WHY you like it or why you don't." Now, I KNOW that all the trolls are going to respond to this saying that they hate it because 'its crap' and that they 'just do' and they 'can't explain it'. Part of being an artist is understanding why you feel the way you do about things, and this site is, new flash, FOR ARTISTS. Although many of us are beginners, we must at least ATTEMPT to understand why we feel the way we do and understand why OTHER people feel the way THEY do. And, for this piece in particular, sure, the act of taking a picture doesn't take much effort, I'll give you that. But how do you know what connections where made in the artist and the DA employee's minds? They may somehow feel emotionally linked with it. I personally, do not feel linked with it at all, but I'm not hating on the choices of the people that do because I don't understand it. Dear artist: sorry for the long rant. But I felt that it must be said.

(( I wouldn't make a hateful comment on this, but I think people might because this is such a plain picture with a bit of editing (I don't do photography, but my best friend does... I could be wrong), people know there's better pictures out there that's not well known and they think it's ridiculous to see such a 'plain' picture as a Daily Deviation and be so well known.

But truthfully, I don't think this is crap. ))

HEY. Art is INTERPRETIVE. This can be viewed and thought of many different ways. You are indeed entitled to your opinion but if it is negative or hateful please keep it to yourself because how do you know how hard an artist worked on this? How do you know they think and interpret this? And it was even good enough to get a DD, so PLEASE keep your hateful and hurtful comments to yourself!

Eres-Graph In reply to LowlyWorm [2013-09-20 11:19:06 +0000 UTC]

How hard he worked for that? He just bent over and pressed the button of his camera dummy.

The strenght of "gently pressing" a button was required for this work. Aint deserving any consideration and DA staff must be blind to let go through this kind of "art".

I am so done with this. Pointless hate against ME too?? WHY do you feel the need to say anything bad about anyones art in the FIRST place? Actually answer with a GOOD reason other than you 'don't like it' or 'its shit' or 'cuz i can'. I want a good, thought out answer that tries to SOMEHOW justify POINTLESS hate.

Ikr! Don't pay attention to the other dummy, he/she clearly has no idea what's she/he's saying.Β  This person just like to defend "good ppl" against theΒ "bad ppl" we are just because we are able to recognize what's is obviously very shitty and lame and non creative artwork. This person think that art can take many shapes, so many that acording these type of person, a big dump in the toilet might be art if you pour some sugar on the top and snap it with your canon.

I'm going to guess YOU listen to pop music. You think THIS is art? Clearly your standards in art forms are very low, and perhaps that equates to low-standard music as well.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SOLtager09 In reply to Lucieniibi [2013-09-20 18:08:43 +0000 UTC]

When you hear pop music on the radio you have to put in to consideration that a process was put in to getting it on the radio, both on the part of the artist (writer or whatever you want to call them) and the people in charge of getting it out there. So comparing it to this photo- somebody saw those lines on the ground (or had it in their head that lines would look cool there) which not everybody has an eye for, and applied it to a medium they know. The photographer doesn't even have to think that its art, but they took the time to create it, and that is their work. Its what they do.Β

Sites like DA are great because you get exposed to art you think is complete crap and art you love. You will always hate somebody's art, and somebody will always hate your art.Β

Lucieniibi In reply to SOLtager09 [2013-09-20 18:12:40 +0000 UTC]

You know, you're right. A LOT more effort is used to make pop music than was used to take this picture.Β

I can't believe that you DON'T think taking a picture (A BAD QUALITY PICTURE, AT THAT) of LINES on the GROUND (that the guy didn't even PUT there!) is really stupid.Β

Do you REALLY think there was effort put into this? Anything even CLOSE to the effort it takes to draw or sculpt or cosplay or even write terrible pop music? REALLY? Because if you do, then I have nothing to argue, because clearly we see the world VERY, VERY, VERY differently.Β

SOLtager09 In reply to Lucieniibi [2013-09-21 14:22:32 +0000 UTC]

If I fell flat on my face holding a camera and took a picture accidentally, and this picture turned out to be one o the most beautiful pictures your've ever seen... Is that not art? I set out to take a picture, and I did. I don't get why your stuck on how much effort what put into it.Β

Also you should consider how most good photos are found, somebody could spend a day taking 300pictures, and come back with 50 good ones.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lucieniibi In reply to SOLtager09 [2013-09-21 18:10:05 +0000 UTC]

Haha I've done that too actually... Just once. Of course it was an accident.Β

But that's not what happened here. They just put the camera on the ground. That's all. (And besides, the picture isn't beautiful...)

SOLtager09 In reply to Lucieniibi [2013-09-24 13:32:00 +0000 UTC]

well, its just a matter of taste. Some people have eyes for manmade angles and lines, its very similar to architecture.Β
