She stood for just a moment, contemplating the stones laid one upon the other, upon the other.  Sure, this would be her avenue of escape, but she had to admit that, for this moment, he had been right. This had been an ideal place to meet.  Even with it feeling like a desert in the daylight hours.  After all, when she would make her get-a-way,  the cobblestone would be cool.  Cool in the dawn, before the angry black sun would boil the dew into nothingness. She closed her eyes and breathed though her nose at that thought.  So the dew, as her love with him.  Boiled into nothingness.  With their love dead, what worth is his body? And if she finds that capture is inevitable, she would have her last bullet.  She thought about it some more, opening her eyes once again to lay gaze upon the magnificence of this structure, at his palace of clay and rock.  If all bullets are spent, one leap over the wall will leave her as dead as he, and her secret will die with her.
"No! This can not be how this ends," she cried. "Inside me," she whispered to herself, "another's baby in my womb, like the tiniest spark, the  tiniest, most precious piece of another man."
Francisco had once been her love, but he became her owner. His heart, and truly his mind, now far too cold for love to survive within him.  How she has come to loathe his icy fingers upon her skin.  Her mind was set as firm as the stones of Francisco's palace, which had become her prison.  The first rays of  morning would bring a gunshot, and a run for the gates even if he still has hidden her clothes.  Agustin would know his child that is gently forming within her.  Or neither of these men would know her, and she was willing to chance the devil being the only man to ever know her again.

A little as if echoing in our mind.

Maybe its nostalgic atmosphere.

It very well could be.  I'm afraid I pretty much live in the past as it is.  I don't much to recommend the present.

That must be fascinating but depressing too.

It all depends on how we look at things. I am not nostalgic ... if the past time doesn't return, the important thing is know the historical processes. Even if the present day seems so empty.

True, it's foolish to long for the past while letting now pass us by.  The future may be very short, it's not a good idea to waste it.  The past provides us with tools, now is the time to use them.
