Thank you so much. And your own portraiture in your gallery is stunning also. And any photographer whose avatar picture is a Vermeer is number one in my book.

Wow i dont usualy find small children cute or pretty but this little boy is just so....pretty ;A; <3
i don't think i've ever seen a child so cute, not to mention this is now officially the best child photo i've seen in my life, ever. Well done sir, it takes alot to make me impressed, and i am very VERY impressed!

I'm pleased to have produced a photo portrait that several people seem to appreciate, but I feel especially pleased to have impressed such an apparently hard-to-please person as yourself! (How many people in the world have managed the feat of impressing you? I want numerical totals and the names of each individual, as I imagine you have kept a tally.) Also let me say that your own gallery contains pieces of startling freshness, executed with a sure hand and clear eye on your part.

Hmm....how many people have impressed me? i'd say about a hundred. But seeing as most of them were contoon characters in my erly childhood you're probably on of the only 'real' people to have caught my intrest |D
and awwwww >w< thank-you! You're so kind!

This child is perfect, and you are brilliant photographer. I have seen many portraits of children, but this one was absolutely breathtaking. Great job on the light and shading, it really brings out the calmness in the picture.

Awww, he's such a gorgous child, his eyes caught me first, I have a thing for peoples eyes, I always try to see evry thing I can about them and his are beautiful!
The shot aswell is beautiful! May I ask how you got the tone, was it editied or did the original photo come out like this?

pmaeck In reply to the-original-copycat [2010-02-10 13:54:28 +0000 UTC]

The photo you see was modified in Photoshop to enhance certain tones and textures, though thanks to the boy himself largely, the original photo was very appealing itself. This kid is a portrait photographer's perfect subject. Thanks so much for your wonderful response.

Leafykins [2010-02-09 22:06:24 +0000 UTC]

This is a beautiful shot, I love the lighting in it, it's not to harsh, and the lighter parts even help balance out the heavier shadows that surround most of him.

As Tami said he looks peaceful and curious, something about the lighting in this picture I almost feel like he's found that special treasure chest and the treasure is glowing on him [yes I know I sound odd, and well I am odd, and I'm okay with that!]

I must say I love his eyes, or in this case I suppose, eye, and the color is nicely balanced out with the color of his shirt too, I like that.

And have I mentioned....he's adorable!

Great shot, nice work!

Your perception of a treasure chest's glow warming his face is delightful and spot-on. (That treasure of glowing gold coins was hard to find and very expensive, as you might imagine.) I love your take on this. I also appreciate your insight into the lighting effect, especially regarding his eye and shirt. Many thanks.

Leafykins In reply to pmaeck [2010-02-10 16:50:03 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome. That part with his eye and shirt is really what caught my attention the most, and the fact that neither of them are lighted more than the other and are in similar lighting, helps to draw them closer together creating a more complete feeling to the image in my opinion, it gives a similar focus and isn't distracting to the viewer.

I have to say that I sat here for 20 minutes just staring at this photo and all the little details of the boys face that just stands out so beautifully. I don't think any other lighting but the one you used for this photo would have been better. It's just prefect.

I have to say some of the best photos are of children seeing as they always look so natural. They don't try and pose or do anything but what they are doing. Most photos of them show how silly and enlighten a child could be. But with this one he just looks so peaceful and curious.

With models its hard to get natural photos of them. Even when you try to get a person off guard, it's till hard to catching them in a natural stage.

I don't know what else to say other then the boy being absolutely beautiful and that this photo stole my breath.

Your comment on Nichalas has made my day, Tami. I so much appreciate not just your looking but also taking the time to express your thoughts, and for doing it so insightfully and thoughtfully and articulately. I'm touched. Now I look forward to enjoying your own art.
Again, thanks,

You are so welcome Peter =] A beautiful photo needs a good comment. I wish I could have said more but I'm so speechless.

All of your other work is just as lovely and have so much deep and meaning to them all; at less to me. I wish you luck with your photos and taking more beautiful pictures to add to your gallery.
