I've got the chance to choose as a homework project theme in ancient south american animals, which I enjoyed to work on all along!, and clearing out homework I also made out an artwork out of it, a drawing of the Pliocene bird Terror Bird, Kelenken species to be specific.
You've could consider them a luck of descendants of the extinct dinosaur theropod type

In this drawing, here's one of this birds posing and in the hunt of a juvenile unaware Macrauchenia
Since birds are in many ways descended of Dinosaurs, this creature giving a glimpse of the threat of it's ancient in the Mammals rising cenozoic lands, just by it's name you understand it was a nightmarish creature in all the ways, the tallests of it's species could've been over 3ft and with a great vision and big peak they terrified the land

Tought despite all and being the apex predators with parents in the South America, North America and Europe. By the Pliocene the much Saber toothed Felines would presumably outrun them in the sprint of survival
And so they would went extinct at the most, like a hundred thousand years ago
