Description 3D model of high speed (up to 200kph) electric multiple unit (EMU) train, having real prototype, created from scratch in Blender, using a few drawings and photographs as references.
More info about this train itself here >>  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ER200

This train has a long and sad story, here are key milestones:
1974 - first prototype was build
1984 - start of regular commercial operation (three trains in total)
2009 - end of use, all trains were distributed between several railroad museums

--
Some tech details:
Blender 2.69: modeling of train (both cars) and railways
Octane Render 3.04.3: materials setup and rendering (PMC mode)
Paint.NET 4.0.10: composition of three separate renders and signature adding

Yeah... I've finally made it... ...it was most hard modeling at the moment

Very nice. It looks so realistic, almost as if you bought an actual model ER200 from the store and photographed it. Two thumbs up, bro!

Thank you, it take a while to carefully get proper (let's hope) dimensions from reference photographs, having only limited basic set of known sizes

Nice modeling. But I'm not impressed by the materials. You didn't use Cycles? Why didn't you export it to render it in DAZ Iray?

Yeah, I'm a bit lazy in terms of texturing work... so I use procedural materials here, which looks too clean. Rendering was done in Octane Render, not in Blender.

Okay. But I didn't mean the texturing. More the end result. If you try Cycles, the colors will probably look more vivid, a bit more glossy.
I am very pleased with the Iray renderer in DAZ (4.8/4.9) I find my results better then in Cycles, but that can be because I haven't mastered Cycles to the max.
Now... isn't it time to make it ride...

The final colors are just tiny part of render engine settings, I've adjust them to get a neutral/cold look, but it was also easy to get more vivid picture. It just depends on desired effect and overall image mood.

Well, some of my works are pure modeling in Blender, probably you thought that it were just a photos, like >> fav.me/d89kchh

Beautiful work on the model.

But where have you hidden the elves?

I was really impressed with that train overall style taking into account that it was designed more than 40 years ago

It's very cool that's for sure, I use to make railway stuff in 3D Studio Max about 10 -12  yrs ago for a program called Trainz.

Yeah, over 200k polygons in each car, and near 950k polygons in full scene (but that is no reason for pride actually - just a lack of optimizations )
