The dark, worn landscape of Claire’s flats. Feeble men and women live in her foul shoes, hemmed in by fraying walls. She keeps them under her feet; enslaved playthings.

When they had first been thrown into the dungeon some begged for mercy, kissed Claire’s divine soles as she smothered them underfoot, but her eyes passed over them like the rest of the grime caked into her soles. It was their destiny to be stepped on- inferior people she wanted to disappear.

They hated her, of course. Yet, when Claire’s sweaty feet returned to engulf them, some of the tiny people felt strangely comforted. Like a warm blanket, tucking them into their place.
