"Why do you sit here in the back and not join the party? Shouldn't you honor Baldur like the rest?"Hod sighed. "I would if I could, but I have nothing to throw at him and so honor him, and even if I did, I cannot see to throw!"
Loki clucked his tongue gently. "That's too bad... but wait a moment... Here, I have something for you to throw... It's not much, just a small dart... "
"But how shall I know where to throw it? I don't want to miss..."
... Loki could hardly restrain the wicked grin that threatened to overtake his face and spill into his voice. "Don't worry, I'll guide your hand... come, it'll be fun..."
Hod gave an unassuming smile. "...Very well, have you the dart?"
"I do," replied the trickster, putting one hand on Hod's shoulder, setting the dart in Hod's hand and clasping it with his own. "Here... face this way... Baldur stands before you now, about ten paces. You have a clear shot."
Hod hesitated. "Are you sure your aim is true?"
Loki grinned unpleasantly. "Dead on. Trust me."

This is one of the coolest Loki/Hod pictures I've seen. Just one question, WHY IS HOD WEARING A BLINDFOLD?
P.S. I do know that in mythology Hod is blind.

It's largely there to signify his blindness to people who DON'T know that he's blind. I say that he's blind in the little story in the artist's comments spot, but you'd be amazed how many people don't read them.

Oh, gosh! I loved that myth. Actually, I clicked on it by accident. I thought it would be another kind of 'fun with mistletoe' and... yeah. I like this kind, though! Loki was my favorite....Until he decided to be a bad guy.

"Dead on." *snickers* I like that. I like the picture, too - and is it just me, or is Loki wearing eyeshadow? His grin is great, as is his hair (and the ear, the tip of which I for some reason want to nibble upon); the way you've leaned Hod slightly towards him shows very well how much he's relying on him. Cool picture, though a bit sad...oddly enough, I feel worse for Hod than Baldur, since he trusted Loki, who betrayed him and got off scot-free, while Hod got killed for vengeance's sake.
Anyway. *blink* That's my kind of holiday spirit! Thanks for letting me know you put this up. I am stalking you now.

And, in answer to something I just noticed you said, no, he's not actually wearing eyeshadow... if you notice, there's a slight glow around the mistletoe dart, and a glow coming from his eyes... it was my way of symbolizing that the dart is enchanted, and it's coming from him!

I like Loki in alot of the myths....except this a one.....this one made me so sad.
But, after Ragnarok atleast Baldur is ressurected and the world does start over. That's comforting atleast....if you can survive the razeing by fire and ice.

Yeah, I always wondered how anyone could make a dart out of that stuff. Of course it HAD to be mistletoe since it is the only plant they knew of that never touched the ground.

I have a friend who will never, ever do anything suggested by someone who finishes a sentance with 'trust me'. Judging by Loki's grin, this would be a circumstance in whihc such a reaction would be fully justified!
