Description "It is written, that there shall be an epic battle between the two godly forces. This battle shall determine the fate of the planet. In the end, there shall be no winning, and all shall be lost..." - An excerpt from an ancient book recovered from a digsite near Violet City

It was a normal day. A weedle made its way down a leaf. It slowly chewed the end of it. A kakuna floated overhead with a string attached to a branch coming out of the top of its hard shell. On the ground, a persian was poised to pounce on an unsuspecting tailow. The forest was very quiet, as per usual.

A large splash at the lake broke the silence.

Something had fallen from the sky into the lake. It looked like a pink cat. Its long tail was about as long as its body. It floated in the air with its psychic abilities. It was the pokémon goddess, Mew.

Mew got up, and shook off the blow. Floating above her, in all of its glory, was the mighty Arceus, god of battles. He was in his dark type form, in order to inflict maximum damage with his judgment attack.

Arceus loosed a hyper beam. Mew retaliated quickly with a metronome attacked. Out came a protective barrier. Mew quickly entered. The hyper beam engulfed the barrier, but it didn’t budge. Arceus was angered, but he knew he couldn’t do anything about it. He sank down into the forest to recharge. The downside of hyper beam was that it took a lot of energy to use. The upside was the one hundred fifty attack power.

Mew took this opportunity to let off a free attack. She unleashed an ancient power attack, which, lucky for Mew, raised all of her stats. She finished just as Arceus had finished recharging. Arceus floated back into the air to release another judgment attack. Mew was engulfed.

Very weak, Mew knew what she had to do. She retreated back into the woods for cover, and hid underwater. She used a recover and regained health. When she had finished this, Arceus began charging the lake as he had seen the glow from the recover. Thinking quickly, Mew used transform to become a spitting image of Arceus. Mew had always hated transforming in battle, as it came with the risk that the move-set she adopted would have no useful attacks, and therefore only transformed when absolutely necessary, and now was one of those times. Arceus, stunned by this, flinched for a moment before resuming the charge.

Mew let loose a hyper beam of her own, knowing that if this didn’t take Arceus down, she was screwed.

A beam of orange light, and Arceus was stopped mid-air. Severely damaged, and unable to recover, he flew back from whence he came, but Mew knew, probably better than any pokémon, that this wasn’t over. She went back into hiding in the woods to tend to her wounds. She was able to change back, but not after a lot of work. A simple recover wouldn’t completely heal her.

Today, Arceus sits poised on his hidden throne atop Mt. Coronet. Dialga strolled up to him and lowered his neck to bow in submission. “My lord, it appears as if the preparations are ready.”
Arceus stood. “Excellent. Hath thee sent the lord of darkness for reconnaissance?”

At that instant, a shadow melted from the wall. It reformed into the very image of darkness. Darkrai, the god of night, was floating in the throne room. “Forgive me lord. Cresselia has intruded into my world again.”

Arceus was enraged. “Fool! Why does thou address me in such a manner? Ye shall leave posthaste to begin said mission.”

Darkrai bowed to his master. “Yes my lord.”

Dialga watched him melt back into the shadows. “That answers that.” He scoffed.

“Does thou have any more new to be shared with myself?” Arceus demanded.

“No, my lord” Dialga walked out. Though he had worked night and day with Palkia (a noteworthy feat, as they do not get along at all) to make preparations, Dialga knew that they could not leave until Darkrai had collected current information on Mew.

Dialga passed Regigigas on the steps down. Regigigas was on his way up to tell Arceus vitally important news.

Arceus stared Regigigas in the eyes. “Why does thou commeth to me at such an hour before departure?”

Regigigas had earned Arceus’s respect (which was another feat worthy of being noted), so he didn’t have to call Arceus ‘my lord’. “I have reports that the three birds, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres are coming our way. Shall we attack?”

Arceus started feeling ecstatic, as if he had the upper hand. “No, let us see why they hath come to our land.”

Regigigas knelt. “Yes, who should I send to follow them?” He stood back up. As well as being amazingly strong, Regigigas led Arceus’s military forces.

“Allow Latios and Latias that right. Said pokémon doth work well with each other.”

“Very well” Regigigas stomped out to give the news. Thanks to Darkrai’s blunder, Mew had another few days of rest before being attacked.

Mew was sunning herself on the sunny beach of Vermillion City. She had assumed the form of a poochyena, in order to keep a random trainer from attempting to capture her. With its dark fur, and terrible stats, it was perfect for sunning and keeping away the stray trainer. A staryu splashed playfully in the water, attempting to anger Mew. Had the starmie known that it was the goddess, he wouldn’t have considered splashing her. Mew, however, was very good natured, and wouldn’t have punished it.

Mew changed into a mantine and dove in. The staryu, realizing who it was with, quickly apologized.

“Forgive me, great goddess.”

Mew had a huge smile on her face. “It’s quite alright, young one.”

The staryu brightened back up. “Well ma’am, Kyogre was searching for you. He claims that he has urgent news. He said something about an attack from Argus or something like that.”

Mew’s expression darkened. “Arceus” She said. “Lead me to Kyogre’s domain.” Mew changed into a luvdisc, which was incredibly fast underwater.

Several hours later, they arrived at a deep-sea cavern. Two gyrados were guarding the entrance. “I request entrance into this castle.” Mew said.

The gyrados on the right glared back at her. “Who wishes to enter?”

Mew assumed her normal form. “The goddess of all pokémon, Mew”

The two gyrados were stunned. “My apologies my queen, please forgive me.”

The one on the right was skeptical. “You are not. You are just a stray ditto, or maybe a smeargle who couldn’t keep its transform attack to itself.”

Mew was angry at this blasphemy. “I can forgive mistakes, but if you call me a ditto or a smeargle, you get punished.” She turned to the staryu. “Thank you. I give you my blessing, please leave, I do not wish for you to observe this.” She turned to the other gyrados. “You as well”

“Yes ma’am” They said in unison. The gyrados swam inside, while the staryu swam out somewhere to the north.

“Now, for you” Mew said. The gyrados didn’t even flinch.

Mew held out one of her fingers and pointed it at the gyrados. Immediately, he started to compact. His scales became purple. This continued, with several yellow stripes. This continued until he was an ekans.

He screamed. He swam off to the surface to get air. There was a very real possibility that he would not make it without drowning.

“Now that that is done, into the castle” She swam inside and continued her way to the throne room. She had taken that route many times before, so she knew exactly where to go. She met several other guards, but none of them made the same mistake as the ekans.

She reached Kyogre’s room. “A staryu told me that you had important information on Arceus.”

Kyogre swam up to Mew. “Yes ma’am. The lake trio has told us that Arceus has sent Darkrai to spy on you. I recommend making preparations to defend, but watch your step. I would recommend having…” Kyogre paused. He always hated his rival, but his ability was second to none in stopping gengar or Darkrai, both of whom can blend into shadows. “Groudon whenever you speak of preparations. We know he isn’t here right now at least. He cannot breathe underwater, unlike us.”

Mew understood. She had lungs, but could change just part of her body to breathe water. “Do we know what their strategy is?”

Kyogre shook his head. “I am afraid not, only that they will attack when Darkrai has finished, and knowing how impatient he is, he may get bored after some time and make up something about us. If he does that, they will attack.”

Mew nodded. “So until we have a plan, we need to keep Darkrai occupied.” Mew silently cursed under her breath. “If only we had Cresselia, then we could stop Darkrai completely without having to confront him.

“We could still do that, not completely, but incapacitate him for a while. Just keep Groudon close, but not too close.”

“Why not?”

“You always keep your friends close,” He looked down to get a shadow to cross over his face, giving an evil look to it. “but your enemies closer.”

A warehouse near Veilstone City that once held Team Galactic’s evil devices is where we are taken now. It now holds legitimate items for space travel that are used for their intended purposes, each in a box with a yellow ‘G’ labeled on the side. A gengar sat poised in one of the shadows, ready to scare the hell out of anyone who ventured in to get a box. Another shadowy figure moved in.

“Move”

The gengar stepped out of the shadows to see who it was dealing with. It kept a small part of its body kept in the spot to keep anything from taking it. “Why should I?”

Darkrai melted from the wall. “Would you like an eternal nightmare, my ignorant friend?”

The gengar cringed. “No sir” It melted back into the shadows, but sped off. That spot would be there again, and gengar didn’t want to offend his main deity.

Darkrai laughed at the sight of the frightened ghost. “Now, back to the business at hand” He melted into the wall, but searched the floor for his target.

He searched for forty-five minutes, until he found what he was looking for.

“Perfect” He let his arm come out of the wall to pick up a small, white hair. He now knew what he had to do. He retracted his arm and made himself comfortable. It could have been a long time before they came.

Minutes passed, and no one had come. Those very same minutes turned into hours. Darkrai was about to give up when he heard a voice.

“…all over again. I cannot tell you what I would give to try that day again.” Said a young, female voice.

Another young female voice came from the same direction. It laughed before saying the following. “I wish I could relate, but you know that I can’t.”

They floated into Darkrai’s view. He already knew who they were, but it was reassuring to know that he was right.

One of them almost looked like a petite, living star, and what where the hair came from. The top of its head was larger than the rest of the body, and had three different points on it, and at the end of each point, hung a blue tag. Her chest had a downward curving line, which was actually a closed third eye. Two robe-like tails flowed from her back. She was truly a sight to behold.

Her friend was almost as small. She was covered in green fur, which got into a darker shade of green at the end of her head, which ended in a point. Her face was rounded to where it wasn’t a muzzle, but it could be mistaken for one. Two antennae stuck out from the top of her head, giving her and almost insect-like appearance. The two small wings on her back contributed to this look. Her chest and her legs also had the same shade of green as the top of her head.

They were the wish goddess, Jirachi, and the forest goddess, Celebi. Celebi also controlled time, and had a long standing rivalry with Dialga.

They frequented the back of the shed to talk about random things with little possibility of human contact, and Darkrai knew this.

“Excellent” He whispered to himself.

Celebi and Jirachi didn’t talk about anything important, and Darkrai was about to give up, when Jirachi said something that piqued his interest.

“I heard that Mew was talking to Kyogre about a battle.”

Celebi nodded. “I know. I was told that Arceus is planning to attack us.”

“Why?”

“Arceus has always been jealous of Mew, but I am only guessing.” Celebi explained.

Jirachi looked worried. “Are you going to go out and help battle when their forces get here?” She asked.

Celebi shook her head. “I don’t know. I would if I knew Dialga wouldn’t be there, but since he will, I am not sure. I won’t just be able to go back in time to start over. Dialga would surely follow me.”

“I understand what you mean.” Jirachi looked down. “I just hope that Deoxys chooses our side. We need him if we are going to stand a chance.”

Darkrai had forgotten about him. Deoxys had amazing power, and could very well decide the outcome.

Celebi put her hands in her head. “Can we please change the subject?”

Darkrai grew angry at this.

“Sure” Jirachi agreed.

Darkrai let out a scream at the end of the talk. Celebi and Jirachi looked toward the shadow that the scream had come from.

Darkrai emerged from his hiding place and outstretched his arm. Everything around them disappeared. Their surroundings turned a horrible shade of jet black. The two goddesses tried their best to resist, but they were drifting asleep.

“If you won’t talk about the battle, then you can dream about it!” He proclaimed.

Once Jirachi and Celebi had fallen asleep, he brought them back to the warehouse. They collapsed on the floor. He used his ability to give them both terrible nightmares. He then used the move nightmare to make them worse. The two were now the favored food of a drowzee.

He withdrew his arm. “That’s over with.” He withdrew back into the wall. “Arceus needs to know this.”

Deoxys sat on Birth Island. He watched a trainer attempt to reach the top where Deoxys was. He usually let the trainers get to the top, but would blast them down shortly after. A trainer on the island was a rare treat for him, as a boat pass to the island was a rare item.

The trainer reached the top. An umbreon stood by his side. Deoxys quickly changed from his balanced forme to his attack forme and let off a powerful psycho boost attack. He watched the foolish trainer fly off the side of a cliff. Deoxys manually threw the umbreon over.

Deoxys quickly changed into his speed forme. He plummeted off of the cliff himself. He pressed a button on a pokéball. A red light emerged and engulfed the terrified umbreon. Deoxys then focused his attention on the boy. Deoxys grabbed him just several feet from the water. He looked him in the eyes, and telepathically gave him a chilling message.

“Come back if you want to be strewn about the world.” With that, the boy was thrown into the water. Deoxys floated up to the top of the island and watched the boy beg the boatman to take him back.

He changed into his balanced forme and resumed him nap that he had been taking before the trainer attempted to capture Deoxys.

Before he got to sleep, a rift opened up behind him. Deoxys sighed. “What now?”

He looked behind him to see Palkia stepping out of a spacial rift.

“Nice job” She said. Deoxys had always found it funny that someone as big and tough as Palkia was female.

Deoxys turned around to face Palkia. “What do you want?” This was a stupid question, as he already knew of the impending battle.

Palkia laughed. “I believe you know.” Indeed, he did. “Arceus wants you on his side. Join us, and you shall receive much of Arceus’s power.”

Deoxys was getting angry. “You know that I declare neutrality in all god battles.”

“Come on, don’t be like that. You know that Mew doesn’t possess enough power to take us on. Join the winning side! Join our movement!” Palkia demanded.

Deoxys morphed to his defense forme, worried that Palkia would attack on further refusal. “Get off of my island. I don’t want to tell you again.”

Palkia knew that Deoxys would attack her. She braced herself. “Lord Arceus will strike his first blow on this island if you do not join us.

“I shall allow him that luxury then. I will not join you, nor will I join Mew, nor will I join Mewtwo.” Mewtwo was also claiming neutrality.

Palkia threw a punch across Deoxys’ face. “You will regret this decision.” She fled back into her rift before Deoxys could retaliate.

Deoxys rubbed his jaw where the punch had hit. “Foolish god”
