I never really saw the Reapers as empire builders tbh, they're not driven by pride.

No, they're driven by terrible writing choices after the first game.

Well, I'm not a die-hard Mass Effect fan, so I wouldn't know.
I prefer Warhammer 40k anyways.

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!
Basically, the Reapers kill you so you don't get killed by machines. Yes, it's that dumb.

The Reapers kill you so you don't get killed by machines? The fuck?
Can they at least do that in a way that makes sense? Because as far as I'm concerned, the A.I.s in Mass Effect were friendly, or for the most part weren't hostile without reason.
And yes, Khorne kicks ass.

The AI in Mass Effect fall into dumb and smart. Dumb AI [VI in universe] is really basic. Smart AI only exists in a meaningful way in the Geth and the Reapers were surprised by them existing. It was a complete ass pull in the eleventh hour when having no known motive would have been better.
Khorne is the only Chaos God who you can actually trust. While many [some writers included] forget it, he also represents honour, justice, honesty and law. I can get behind that.

Dumb and smart AI...hmmm...sounds very much like Halo.
And sadly I prefer Slaanesh because my mind is very, VERY dirty. Then again, I can't tell which Chaos god would approve more of heavy metal.

Lilith-Crowe In reply to Treadz2000 [2019-09-23 19:23:18 +0000 UTC]
It's kinda like Halo in that regard.
I too would probably get Slaanesh's attention.
Slaanesh is all about loud music and expression. So unless it's Sabaton which Khorne would love, Slaanesh would be up for heavy metal.

Well, I mostly listen to W.A.S.P., so you tell me.
But I'd catch Khorne's attention since I'm a die-hard Doom fan.

Sabaton does really good songs about famous wars, battles or heroes. Here's my favourite: youtu.be/oVWEb-At8yc?t=42
You should check them out just to see if you like them.
Doom Guy and Khorne would hate each other but Khorne would respect him enough to to a Tuska Daemon Killer and just give him endless daemons to fight every day for the sake of bloodshed.

I like Sabaton, the song "Winged Hussars" is probably one of my favorites.
But my preferences mostly include Exodus, W.A.S.P., Testament, Overkill, Slayer, Motorhead, Quiet Riot, Ozzy Osbourne, and Danzig.

I'm also a Powerwolf fan.

One of my favorite films is "Heavy Metal" which I think is a visual masterpiece in some respects. The animation is kinda dated, but it has some kind of quality to it that makes it timeless. Along with a killer soundtrack from Riggs, Cheap Trick, Black Sabbath, Sammy Hagar, Nazareth, Blue Oyster Cult and Don Felder.

40k is probably my favorite franchise, besides Doom of course. And yes, I'm hyped for Doom Eternal, and I usually don't get hyped for anything anymore, thanks to a specific Star Wars movie.

Yeah, I at least know Doom Eternal is actually offering something interesting.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi actually killed any hype I had left. I was so hyped to see it, and long story short - it sucked. Not that I have much hope anyways, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker looks more like an excuse to sell merch than to tell a decent story.

I'm glad I saw MauLer's review before I saw TLJ. I'd have been pissed and my mother would have been crushed to see what they did to Luke.
I wanna see a 40K game with some DOOM style elements. Maybe as a Crimson Slaughter Chaos Marine.

It would be part of my 40K gaming plan.
1: Space Marine 2. It would follow Titus who has been placed into the Deathwatch after Space Marine 1 so he can be used while the Inquisition keep an eye on him. Then you could have him and a squad of a couple other Chapters because of Deathwatch and an Inquisitor leading it. Have it be a hot chick, why not? They'd fight Orks, Eldar and Tyranids. Have multiplayer modes like Horde and Beast from Gears 3.
2: A game like SW Battlefront 2 [2005] in which you play as the Imperial Guard or Traitor Guard with a few elites like Chaos Creatures or Sisters of Battle.
3: A Rainbow Six style game with the Tempestus Scions.
4: A new DoW style game done better and with the Iron Warriors as the protags.
5: A looter-shooter playing as the Orks like Borderlands turned up to 11. You could even call it Loota Shoota.
6: A DOOM style game as a Chaos Marine of Khorne.
Boom! Print money.

1: Yes, I need another Space Marine game, Titus is probably one of the only good Ultramarine characters I know about.
2: I agree, the Imperial Guard doesn't get much attention in 40k games, except maybe for Dawn of War.
3: Not a fan of Rainbow Six, but we'll see how that goes.
4: I love Iron Warriors, so hell yes.
5: Sounds like endless fun.
6: Shut up and take my money!

Lilith-Crowe In reply to Treadz2000 [2019-09-23 20:33:24 +0000 UTC]
See, I can think of that but GW can't.
1: Space Marine plus Deathwatch plus lots of aliens plus a Gears-Of-War style Beast Mode in multiplayer. That would be sweet.
2: The Guard are awesome. They don't have miracle powers or super genetics from a demigod but they fight anyway.
3: It would be a good hardcore difficult style game, I think.
4: Iron Warriors are my favourite Legion.
5: That's what the Orks are all about.
6: Same here.

I'd have liked it more if it wasn't called Doom 3.

Treadz2000 In reply to Lilith-Crowe [2019-09-23 20:44:11 +0000 UTC]
Same.
It was a good game, had a darker atmosphere and cool demon designs, plus Betruger was a creepy villain.
But it fails as a Doom game because it has too many cutscenes, which holds it back. And the story behind Resurrection of Evil and the Lost Mission wasn't that interesting and honestly kinda pointless. Plus the Cyberdemon boss was very disappointing.
Doom 2016's story only works because it's shown through the gameplay. If someone wants to just rip and tear, then they can do that. If someone wants to know lore behind it, they're free to look for it themselves.

Doom Guy is the perfect way to show character through action alone. No face or voice. Just the embodiment of anger. I just wish the final boss was better. It was the only one I beat first try which is poor form since it should be the hardest.

Treadz2000 In reply to Lilith-Crowe [2019-09-23 20:51:48 +0000 UTC]

Oh, my bad. I meant in the 2016 game. I beat the final boss first try but neither of the other two bosses.
Oh, and have a game about building a Chaos Warband. Like a sci-fi version of Mount and Blade.

Oh, you ever play Rage? The combat races from that should be a side-activity in Loota Shoota. Imagine building an Ork battlewagon and there's basically no limit to what you can do. The customisation would have to be the best in any game but fuck me it would be awesome.

That would be the end of a skill tree. So you'd have to get the final perk in a skill tree to get them. They'd start as a normal Boy, then a Big 'Un, then a Nob and then a Warboss and get bigger each time.

Kinda like Halo Reach. A prequel game where you know you'll lose but fight hard anyway. Then die at the end knowing you slowed them down enough that the Emperor will have been alerted to the betrayal.

Another reason I like the Imperium of Man, besides their badass military, is the architecture. I don't know what it is, but something about Gothic architecture in a multi-planetary empire just seems fitting for some reason.

Now I want a game as a Sister of Battle on a Shrine World.
