I also take no responsability for accidents that might occur upon seeing some of the "fantastic" works displayed.

Been meaning to do one of these for a long time now.

Quick notes:
1. My 2005 works, drawn back when I started to take art seriously. The first one was probably drawn on January and the other around the Summer(I didn't put the month on my signature back then). Also, that's the first time I drew a full background that covered the entire paper.
2. 2006. These two are the perfect example seen as they're two versions of the same work. My Fire Elemental unicorn, Fogo. The first was drawn back in January, as you can see, the background does not cover the entire paper, I broke this bad habit that year.
The 2nd work is from December. Can you spot the differences?
3. 2007. First work done in January of that year, first time I drew Mîr too, I love her. This is when she and Ninni met btw.
2nd work was a contest entry for =daughterofthestars with Cy'ra and Trace, I'm still very fond of that work Done in September.
4. 2008. My less productive year so far when it comes down to the number of works done, but it's understandable, right? I mean my works take much longer to make now. First image displays my beloved chars Alcor, Adhara and Zuni. Didn't pay much attention to the bg, did I? Done in February.
2nd image is my favorite work so far and best too, I think. Ninniach and Mîr again, enjoying a romantic night. Done in October.
5. 2009. Opened the year bringing one of my oldest chars to life. Payed much more attention to the background than on any of my previous works, it totally payed off. Done in February.
Who knows where this year is going to lead me too?

This is for all of you that think that your art sucks. I'm not the greatest artist(that's for sure XD), but I think that seeing that beautiful black, fire maned horse up there and the last work displayed gives you a good idea of the message, right?

Without practice, you won't get where you want so just keep working! There are no shortcuts when it comes to the real essence of artistic improvement.

All works displayed are © to me.
Ninniach, Mîr, Alcor, Adhara, Zuni, Trace, Memoria and Fogo are all © to me. If you steal them, I'll make sure it's the last thing you do
The lovely Cy'ra, depicted with Trace, is © to

I my colored pencils! *drools*

Edit: I forgot to say this, but it's really important.
I want to thank Ashley, whom you might know as *SilverFlameWanderer . She was probably my greatest inspiration and still is. You can see that my style was greatly influenced by hers, especially on my earliest works and you could see it better if she still had her old works up at Elfwood. She's been one of my greatest supporters ever since I posted my ugly works at Elfwood on 20th December 2004. I'm very thankful that you believed that I could go farther in art and develop my skills hun, thank you so so so much for all your advices and wonderful critics, words cannot express to you how thankful I am. I could have never gotten this far without you

It's such an encouragement for you to post this It will inspire many artists who want to improve in their drawing skills I cannot believe how fast you've improved It's so amazing. It has become clearer and neater every year You're one of my inspiration for traditional drawing and you should be very proud to draw the way you do. Traditional art is not better than digital and neither is digital better than traditional, but an artist somehow pours more work into traditional and is your actual hand doing the job, created with your own hands without the easy help we get from computers. Amazing.

I love it.

Aww I love this comment! Thank you so much for your words hun, they mean a lot to me And I'm honored to be an inspiration for you
And I agree with you on that totally, I've always felt that traditional art has a bit more meaning since it's done with real life materials and such, but none of them is harder than the other.

Thank you for the too!

This is really, really neat, Jo! I'm so proud of you that you kept stuff from way back then--and I'm saying it 'cos I NEVER keep stuff... ever. Seriously. Though... I DO have some fun artwork/poetry from 6th grade still... I think... XD If I can I'll snag it over break and scan it in.

Haha, I love it when people call me Jo XD Don't ask me why though, I just do!
Well I did kind of... get rid of some of my old works, but I ended up regreting it so now I keep all my works, unless they're gifts for my friends
Thank you hun!

Aye! I don't say I "regret" throwing stuffs away, but sometimes there are things I'd be interested to see just once more... haha... and no worries!

Your improvement here, even from the start of a year to the end, is absolutely incredible. I am especially amazed by how much you improved during 2005 and 2006 - both of them are enormous leaps in terms of shading and anatomy. I always love to look back at older works like this, and this is an excellent show of your progression over the years!

Woah, the leap in improvement from the first drawing to the second drawing is shocking!

It's always really interesting to see how an artist has progressed over the years.

*chuckles* By comparison, Joana, I still think my work is somewhere between your work of December 2005 and December 2006.

It is rather fun to see where you've come, isn't it?

the difference between the works of 2006 is incredible. It was worth redrawing the picture because it looks amazing, especially in comparision to the original.

Well, you can expect a new version sometime near. After looking through my old works, I really felt like drawing my elemental horses again so maybe I will and I'm definitely keeping the concept of Fogo's work.
Thank you Liz!
