Description Cambo SC 8X10 inch Camera
Schneider Super Symmar S 360 mm Lens
Polaroid Type 803 Print

Preparing for the shoot at the 20x24 Polaroid Studio next month in New York. Jessica (aka ~fink ) will be modeling for me there. Exploring concepts, I am leaning for straight on protraiture similar to works by Chuck Close who photographs in the same film format for his paintings. The rickety Cambo SC was at maximum bellow extension to get this shot, orginal Polaroid print is 8X10 inches.

How did you get so much DOF with an 8X10?

Type 803 Polaroid is 800 speed film, combined with the fact that the light source is about 2 ft from her head, it allows me to utilize smaller apertureseven after accounting for bellows extension, thus increasing the DOF. I think this was shot at f32 at 60 sec. Using Type 804 (100 speed film) I would of had an aperture around f8 at 60 sec. thus losing most of my DOF.
