Description ..."There is more to the drow than meets the eye."

Aluna furrowed her brow as she sighed looking over to Starling with a pout on her lips. "Why do you keep calling me that?" she asked innocently. Sitting there wrapped within the blanket, the woman had just come to again after passing out under the druidess's care after Landon discovered her wandering about the woods looking as if she'd been attacked. She was still covered in blood and gore though they'd done their best to clean the woman up some. The skirt of her gown was shredded and more than one welt had risen upon her dark skin. Yet, even in her state of disarray the female seemed at most so very innocent and naive.

"Because you are one," came the quipped response from Landon. The human spearman stood behind one sofa. Upon it, Poldalle Lovesnare frowned as she looked over her shoulder towards the man and back to the dark elf across from her at the opposite side of the other plush couch within the noblewoman, Lady Revelation's, suite. It was so odd to see the look of confusion on the drow's face.

"A...drow?" Aluna repeated, looking from one to the next in inquiry.

"Aye," Poldalle returned slowly, her own copper brow pinching over her blue grey eyes. It had been only two days ago that suddenly two dark elves had shown up within the forest outskirts of Speardale. Each was unique to their own curious ways. Sharez still remained badly injured, resting within the inn room the ranger-bard had taken up for herself. And then there was this female here with the tiny dragon that followed her about squeaking and murmuring no more than noises. Two of the most peculiar specimens she had discovered. The male dark elf seemed more logical even if he'd yet to explain how he'd attained the massive amount of injuries his frame had undertaken. Aluna simply seemed....out of sorts. And in more than one way.

"I..don't understand. I've never heard of....until you mentioned..." the woman returned, clutching the blanket tighter about her. Suddenly she felt extremely small there amongst the crowded room. Especially with Starling eying her. There was something about the half-celestial female's gaze that weighed on her. It felt as if the druid were staring straight through to her soul. And something about the winged wolven female made Aluna think she very well might have been!

"What do you mean you'd never heard of a drow before?" Wildfire prompted. The grizzled, old anthropomorphic wolf knight had remained for the most part silent during the whole of the affairs, watching over with vigil. But now his flame hued brow arched over golden eyes as he looked to the dark elf. "You are a drow."

Aluna opened her mouth to reply but then shut it, swallowing hard as she seemed to shrink back. Her gaze focused on the floor as she began to shake her head. Revelation settled next to the distraught woman upon the sofa, tucking her skirt beneath her before the noblewoman reached out dainty hands to caress Aluna's shoulder.

"There, there. Please, you should not be so harsh."

"Who's being harsh?" Landon quipped. One chocolate brow quirked. "She's a dark elf. Hard to see how she'd never heard of one before. They're the stuff of nightmares. Elves with hair white as day, skin as black as night, and hearts all the darker. Their eyes burn red with malice. Spider kissers and baby killers."

Aluna's gaze popped back up, eyes wide in obvious fear and disgust. "No! I am no such thing!" she retorted, a hint of histeria in her voice. "Please! I'm not!"

"You are a dark elf, or 'drow', indeed, whether you wish to admit it or not, by way of race or species," Starling spoke up. The woman's voice was level. Cool and calm in such a way as to be commanding to the attentions of all. The anthro wolf tilt her head to incline it slightly. Her moonlight colored optics were fixed upon Aluna.

"But of course..that does not mean you are as wicked as others with the same race," Lady Revelation protested in the drow's defense. Starling merely pressed her lips thinner.

"There are the dancing sisters of the Dark Maiden," Poldalle agreed in the tense silence.

"I...I don't know anything of what you're talking about!" Aluna whimpered, putting her face into her hands. But they smelled still of earth and blood as she tore her face back away, swallowing hard. "I was raised by dragons!"

"And thus you may not be drow in heart but you are in flesh. And there is more beneath such flesh than meets the eyes," Starling spoke in warning again of whatever cryptic discovery the druidess half-celestial had made while healing the dark elf female earlier. Whether that had anything to do with Aluna's claims of her upbringing or not, no one was certain.

A tense silence seemed to ensue as Poldalle frowned, swallowing hard. The wood elf raised her fingers to toy at the crescent moon holy symbol resting about her neck, just beneath the folds of her cape. "You...have never heard of the stories of the dark elves?" she whispered. Aluna shook her head, looking so utterly lost in that moment. The ranger-bard took a deep breath and sighed. Before she could speak up though, a tingle flexed through the air beneath her sensitive fingers and within the center of the room a great teal sphere of illuminescence sprang into life. It coalesced several times while flattening out into a circle. All gathered gasped in surprise, even StormyDays--Starling's wolf companion--raising his head in curious interest.

The globe cleared until a scene began to play out within its core. A glorious golden elf male handsome beyond allure smiling as he stroked light colored hands through the ivory locks of an elegant dark elven female. "What in the...?" Wildfire whispered, one hand lowering down towards his belted sword.

"Corellon's Blessed Blood..." Poldalle whispered. The images turned...showing the golden male battling a great and brutish orc. "It is the tale of the gods....." The images flashed by quickly, depicting Araushanee's betrayal. How the goddess had conned her very own daughter into working in a plot to overthrow the man she was supposed to love. The father of all elves. Corellon Larethian.

Eilistraee's stray arrow slammed into the Deity's body, and Aluna gasped aloud in abject horror. Th-that was what a drow was?!?! Araushanee sneered as her beauty corrupted into a great half-spider demon....as Corellon proclaimed Lolth to her banishment...tears caressing his handsome features....

The dark elven female watched it all in terror, one hand raising to cover her lips as tears formed in her eyes. Oh, Stars Above! That was a drow?! That was what she was...!?!?

bleh...kinda cruddy but I had been really wanting to RP out this scene with ~mystymoon but sadly we never got a chance before I had to get something done for the deadline. This was done for drow club's current contest about dark elves that did not know they were drow, raised by other races and sudden discoveries of the truth of their identities. I'd immediately thought of Sherry's character, Aluna. Raised by dragons after her mother was slain by a zealot of Shevarash...and she herself was cursed by stray magic that was to slay her until a dragon came to her aid and then took her in. We had all sorts of different ideas for how to do the scene but since we never really got to fully play them out I just went with the original imagery that popped into my mind after reading the contest....of Aluna sitting amongst the group of my own characters staring in horror at an illusionary globe showing when Araushanee betrayed Corellon and nearly killed him and became Lolth. Showing what it was to be a drow. heh....

it's not the best...kinda rushed and whatnot but hey I really wanted to enter and Sherry gave me permission to use her character...was actually excited about it...so I really wanted to get something entered heh..... I didn't use any references or really look up character descriptions just kinda went off the top of my head for people heh....so hope it looks ok and hope you like it guys

i've never drawn that many people at once that must've toke forever i dunno why, but i have an obsession with details, like i'll just doodle or sketch for fun and it ends up being an actual picture

Love your world.
Thank-you for letting me get to know drow a little better. Aluna, like Mowgli in Kipling's story is raised by noble beasts. Will she prove to have more good qualities than those who perhaps judge her here?
Will she get find her way home?
Your story leaves me wanting to know...

d'awwww thankies! hehehehe

you're most welcome. I love helping to showcase others' characters as well as my own and let people get to know them better hehehe. Aluna has a kind heart....she just also has this curse on her...under some moonlight [you'd have to ask Sherry for specifics] I know she...turns into something dark and attacks people but doesn't know that she does it..like the classic old werewolf tales heh. as far as her trying to find her "way home"...that certainly is an intriguing question...especially when she needs to learn where home truly is
