Description
God I literally. Have not touched a coloured pencil in years. You can definitely tell. I did this to kill time while my folks were getting ready for a drive to my extended relatives place for dinner. Figuring out colours was a nightmare lolLink to import/ID#: Harvest 4607

I really like this illustration! It’s very dynamic, and very cute! I came here because in the title you mentioned you don’t know how to use coloured pencil, and I wanted to give you some tips on that.
Something I noticed is that you use long and fairly irregular strokes, with a lot of space in between them. A technique I’ve always found works really well for coloured pencils is to work with short strokes, very close to each other, so you leave no white from the paper in between. This will create a nice and even colouring if you apply the same pressure everywhere. It takes some time to learn, and to actually do, but I think you’ll find it will turn out really great!
Again, I really like this illustration. It’s cute, it’s playful and it’s got such a happy atmosphere. Keep it up!

Not a bad attempt. You seem to have a fine grasp on line art, owing to the straight, proportionate lines and smooth posing. If I could make a suggestion regarding your colouring, I might say to shade with the long side of the lead, as it creates broad strokes on the page. Another personal tip would be to colour a piece flatly at first, filling in the colours that you want, before darkening certain said colours to give the illusion of shadows. I hope these tips help!
