Description Finally freed up enough time in my school schedule to finish this art trade with ; he wanted to see his OC Blaine (rabbit guy with mask) getting whammed by an ice-cream cone dropped by Sealia Seal from the Archie Sonic comics. I decided to set the scene in a Mobian bar so I could practice various indoor textures I've been meaning to work on.

I'm not quite sure how Sealia climbed up to the rafters while not having legs, but hey, Mobians are weird!

It could be worse...it could have been shadow that was gonna be dropped on

Lol. Yeah, we don't know this guy's personality so who knows how he'll react?

Why was she holding an ice cream cone anyway? (Nice picture by the way. )

Just hanging out up on the rafters and having a snack, I guess.

This looks really cool! Getting the perspective in an image like this to look right is very tricky, but you did a great job. What I also really like is that there are so many cool details to look at in this piece. The way you did the shadow and the lightning looks great as well. Great job!

Yeah, because the angle was particularly screwy, I positioned the characters by drawing boxes that they would inhabit on my sketch layer, boxes that would be larger at the top because of foreshortening and everything. Then I sketched out their shapes within those to keep them angled the right way. Thanks for noticing!

No problem! Using boxes is a really clever idea!

This picture you've done of these Sonic characters together in such a situation looks very nice and interesting.

Lol great job on this, it came out great. I like the perspective you've used here, it came out well. Especially the lighting, and that wolf, I barely saw it right now lol.
Great job on this PolymerWantACracker. I'm finishing up yours, it would have gotten done quicker, but I was busy making a Christmas gift and I was having trouble
with Walt and Jesse...

EDIT: I might upload it on Wednesday so I can make some corrections to it. What's keeping it being submitted is Walt's and Jesse's faces, they're just not getting there.

That's fine, hah. I was delayed in finishing this by having final projects to finish up and exams to study for... including one that's in 15 minutes and I should probably start cramming for.

Thank you! Although working with this unusual angle was a pain, I had a lot of fun figuring out how everything would look from this perspective.

At first I tought that this was set in a school gymnasium XD

Let's just hope she herself won't fall off that beam either, because the ice cream smeared on her hands won't give her any grip.

Hah. I realized the setting was a little vague, but I thought the beer mugs and wine glass would help.

Nice job on the perspective with this piece! I always have a hard time getting my textures to line up with the perspective, but you did an excellent job with that.

PolymerWantACracker In reply to TheEnigmaMachine [2016-12-11 16:07:29 +0000 UTC]

I actually "cheated", so to speak, with the floorboards - originally the floor was all one color, but I set up a temporary sketch layer to map out perspective lines, then repeatedly selected areas of the floor with the polygonal lasso tool, using those sketch lines to get the perspective right, and marginally darkened or lightened them. The areas I selected decremented in size by powers of two: first half the floor, then quarters, then eighths, and so on, to make sure the widths of the boards were about identical.

I did a similar thing with the bricks, except there I first separated them into two separate layers (alternating rows) to get the pattern right.

Still, thanks, I appreciate the compliment! I guess there's no right or wrong way to do this.

TheEnigmaMachine In reply to PolymerWantACracker [2016-12-11 23:26:41 +0000 UTC]

That's actually a pretty good way to get a pattern like that! I hadn't considered doing something like that, but I'll have to give it a try next time I am drawing floorboards.

Yeah, layers and the magic wand tool are my best friends, LOL. It helped me hugely when I realized you could adjust the latter's sensitivity.
