Wow I look the way you shaded and higlighted. It looks like a painting almost. And I like his expression. it's like a "I'm gonna get you!" Kinda thing. xD

This is really nice. I love how you portrayed the firefly as a ball of light, with sort of a "stardust" trail behind it. It really looks like something that'd be in a movie or something. I love all the colors you used, and your shadowing and illumination looks great, from what I see. (I have trouble with that)
I love the background as well- did you use a brush to make that design?

Thank you for your critique Over the entire design I used a simple scraggly generic brush in photoshop. I didn't use any specific "swirl" brush for the background. It was mostly just a lot of playing with opacity and flow to get the look

thanks!! Originally he had a spear and shield but it was taking up too much space in the picture, then he had a primitive bone type blade but it added too much tan/brown to the image so he ended up with the metal/stone enchanted blade thingie I tried many patterns and ended up "swooshing" a few lines and went "HEY! THAT WORKS!" Interesting how drawings evolve.

Large knives are easier to carry when running through rough terrain, anyway. And obsidian knives are still pretty primitive, while also being extremely sharp, so it totally works on that level too. I can understand what you mean about changing things out until they work, that's one of my favorite parts about making jewelery!

A really lovely design and style. It would fit very nicely with childrens illustration and in comics and all that. Reminds me of pastels or somthing similar. I like it alot!

yup Photoshop CS3 (though i don't really do anything special that an old version can't handle) Someday I'll get Painter but for now I feel more comfortable with PS. I do think it needs to be a little crisper. Each doodle I do gets a little tighter and tighter. I'm enjoying the journey as much as the final pieces
