Queens and Faux Queens

Queens and Faux Queens are not adversaries nor do they fight for the throne. Queens are generally benevolent rulers and a one woman army while Faux Queens are backup ladies-in-waiting for the castle.

Queens: are about 10 feet tall, rare trait carrying female Hivians. Benevolent and kind, there are one or two exceptions but
those don't last long, these females are the only true warriors in the whole castle. Being as such they must have immense power to defend their "children." A Queen's strength is only rivaled by Draconids in Antigone despite being 1/4th their size. All Queens have four arms and it is that second pair of arms that gives them greater strength than a Faux Queen. They can easily life the great lizards above their heads and throw them about a yard away if they so choose. Considering the number one killer of Hivians is a Draconid, it's necessary for them to have this strength. Dragonids are treated as threats automatically and so you will never find one near a Hivian castle unless they mean harm.

These rulers are easily accessible to any Hivian. It is not uncommon for a Queen to go walking through their castle but they can generally be found in one place. These massive beauties sit and eat, making huge amounts of royal jelly that they store in tails that can grow to twice their size. They need all this power packed energy in their tail when fighting. A Queen can fight for most of the day without stopping if her tail is completely full. She will be slow at first from all the weight of the honey but watch out because as the energy from her tail dwindles her speed advances. Good luck hitting her when 90% of her tail is empty. Battles with a Queen can be massive and deemed suicidal. You do not want to fight a Queen with a Sister Queen (a shorthand term for a secondary Queen who is in allegiance with the first. Queen to Queen interaction is for another day.)

You will have a bad time~

While not eating they are ruling over disputes and welcoming dignitaries from other nations. Gifts to a Queen upon first meeting her is always welcome just don't bring chocolate. It is a toxic substance to a Hivian when ingested, so you would basically be telling the Queen to "go die, please." Of course you will be forgiven if you make this mistake. The Queen will take no offense, but someone else might. Just be careful. Toxic substances are hard to evacuate from a Hivian's body since everything ingested is turned to honey no matter what it is and thus stored indefinitely until used (which can poison the Hivian a second time). The properties of that ingested food is mixed with other properties of other ingested food creating unique syrups in every Hivian, including Queens. So no two royal jellies are alike and no two lineages are alike. A linage is create through royal jelly and not blood although the children of a Queen are more likely to turn into Queens than a regular Hivian.

You will never hear a Queen call her hive "subjects" or "people." It is always "children" even if they do not have any royal linage. The only time another word is used for a Hivian by a Queen is if they come from another castle and have not been nationalized yet. Those are called "subjects." That can be a bit disheartening to hear for a Hivian but it just makes it even sweeter when they are called "my child" finally.

Queen only traits: Four arms, claws, large wings, large tail, more than two eyes, clothes, and Royal Jelly.

Faux Queens: are bigger than worker Hivians yet smaller than a true Queen at 7 feet tall. Faux Queens are more common than Queens and there are usually several in a castle. They tend to the Queen and follow her around, carrying her things for her such as food; since she must eat to defend the castle. They also travel for the Queen when she needs messages sent or a representative to another castle (each castle is its own country). This is considered an extremely dangerous job since Faux Queens are more like defenseless Princesses. A few workers will always accompany them when leaving the castle.

These diminutive fake Queens carry at least one rare trait on them in some way. They can never have Queen only traits however, such as large wings, four arms, and smaller eyes on their forehead. They can however have long fur on their arms and legs, a furred collar, float, as well as a few other rare traits.

Faux Queens are unbelievably important because they are the back up plan. If a Queen falls in battle they can pick up the slack. While they may not have the strength a Queen has they are raised to be master planners. A collection of Faux Queens has equal influence over a castle as a Queen does. In the event that a Queen falls and a threat advances on the castle a Faux Queen can let out a debilitating powder that will last for 24 hours per Faux Queen. This gives ample time for a castle to relocate. You can storm the castle but nothing will be there.
