Power: Bacchus has a very loud bray that can be heard for miles. The mere force of it is enough to flatten any fragile plants around him! This is also useful underwater since the sonar can stun small fish for him to catch.

Personality:
Bacchus doesn't really live up to his name. He's a rather timid, nervous, creature who will often hide his face behind his massive amount of mane. He can often be found in solitude wandering around the herd's borders to avoid speaking to as many horses as possible. How he managed to pass training to become a Protector is surprising to some, but no one can doubt his incredibly observant nature. His large ears are perfect for detecting sounds horses can't. And since he's always leery of everything he can pick up quick movements easily. As a final bonus his loud bray is a perfect alarm call!
Despite its uses Bacchus is super self-conscious about his bray. He'd give up anything to be able to whinny like a normal horse...he feels like such a freak. It's bad enough that he has a fishy tail...why the long ears and noisy call? He's always worried that others are looking at him or making fun of him behind his back. To make himself more likeable he speaks very softly and tries to be nice to whoever talks to him first. Sometimes this gets him mistaken as a mare, which doesn't bother him one bit. Horses are generally nicer to mares anyway.
No matter how much he hates his appearance it does have its perks. His tail is powerful and makes a very good whip. His coat and mane are waterproof so he's rarely cold. He's not the world's fastest swimmer compared to other water horses, but it's speedy enough to get by. Unlike most Kelpies, he doesn't really feel one way or another towards water; if it's there he'll take a dip but he won't go out of his way for it.
His rank is perfect for his quiet lowkey lifestyle. He likes protecting the herd (donkeys are excellent guard animals) and watching wildlife.
Being part donkey, he has a slight temper when it comes to a stranger intruding. Once spotted, he'll bray to the high heavens and charge full-force towards the stranger. If they don't move or explain their presence they will get violently attacked. Biting, kicking, latching onto loose skin...Bacchus goes absolutely bonkers. It's a strange switch in personality...thankfully it's a very, very, VERY rare occurance!
Bacchus has heard rumors of a ghost horse wandering between the Pale Ladies' herd and the Pacific herd. He hopes to get to the bottom of this mystery once and for all! If this spooky horse is a threat, it must be dealt with.
