Description (Kandy Kayne  (Kay) is most likely never going to leave rehab. She's completely broken and her spirit is beyond crushed. Some days she can semi-function but other than that she has a past...but no future. Rough topic warning ahead!)

Kay came under Valentino 's care when she was about 15 and very pregnant. Her 'owner' was ticked that she couldn't be sold out anymore and beat the crap outta her before tossing her body into the street. Somehow she survived and dragged her battered self to the sanctuaries' door before blacking out.
Even after she has her foal and goes to therapy she still sits and stares out the window, not focusing on anything. Just...staring with glazed eyes. Valentino isn't sure if her 'coping mechanism' is good or not but doesn't dare disturb her.

Every so often she has a moment of clarity; she knows for a fact that she cannot raise this baby alone, especially since she needs so much help and parenting herself.
Valentino steps up to practically raise Peppa-Mint  all on his own (when the other ladies aren't around). Kay REALLY really tried but the pain of everything was just too fresh and she'd often have flashbacks which prevented her from caring for her daughter. This gets better when Peppa becomes a toddler.

What pushed Kay into going into therapy? Suicide threatening. Thankfully someone tipped Valentino off that there were scissors in that room and Kay was looking at them funny. He catches her just in time! He had no clue how much or how deep her pain ran since she's so introverted, disconnected, and quiet from the world. He knew it was bad, but not THAT bad! Since his own mother killed herself he refuses to lose any of the girls under his care.
What makes matters worse is that Peppa saw the whole thing. She's too young to realize what her mom was about to do, but Kay feels just awful about it.

After therapy some things improve. Other things slow down or don't improve. At least she doesn't lose anymore. Instead she gains energy and is able to sit up to stare out the window instead of laying down. She can also go outside every so often with the other girls.

After awhile Tili  decides to take Kay under her warm wings. She's not that much older than the teen, but has so much empathy it doesn't matter. She persuades Kay to care for herself more by eating or showering. She provides endless comfort and tries not to get offended when Kay shuts her out during a bad episode.

Poor Kay, besides the shame and pain of her past she has to put up with conflicting worlds! As a teen she has the deep down interest in flashy stores and going to school, but shuts it all down since it's all likely to set off flashbacks or bullying. She's also stuck in the adult world, weighed down with worry for her daughter and what she needs to grow into a decent citizen. It's all so overwhelming to her overburdened mind.
----------------------------
So there's some more character development for Kay! Will she ever really feel good again? No. She will only ever feel content but never truly happy again While the other girls can move on and get over their scars she is still stuck in an endless cycle. Las Pegasus has claimed another victim.

It is totally understandable why Kai felt like she didn’t want a foal at all. She could have had an abortion but she chose to have Peppa and that’s very brave of her. But daymn even though Peppa didn’t do anything, I can only imagine how hard it is for Kai to see the reminder of her atrocious past which is her daughter. I’m so glad Peppa has Valentino as her honorary dad though! He is a great father figure, really
Kai is such a strong character. Really, I feel like most would either end their lives or get addicted to heavy drugs if they were in her place. It’s so great that she still has some energy left for keeping up with conversations! And gah I really hope that nobody is forcing her to be a good mother to Peppa cause I can only imagine how terrible it would be for her
Heck this is probably the darkest story among your characters. It, um, builds a character? Why are we so terrible to our horses
