Good morning, Matteo, and a happy birthday shout to you from California (where likely by the time you read this I'll be in dream time -- and it will be still yesterday to you). First of all, I wish for a you another year ahead of creative inspiration, production and I hope fabulous fun. Secondly, a few thoughts on this composition: If this stuff is already familiar to you, I apologize. I simply want to share why this is one of my favorites. In some Eastern thought, e.g., Daoist, the turtle or tortoise represents one of the guardian animals of the four directions, this animal guarding the North. It represents various qualities and forces of nature, but relevant to this composition is that for each individual person the tortoise (or Black Warrior) represents the combined totality of that individual's historical and spiritual ancestors. Perhaps you can see why tens of thousands of years of combined wisdom and history standing in front of the little girl is such a wonderful and ironic image to me. (Also, for the practitioner of qigong, gong-fu or other such art, the direction North is at his or her back. So the Black Warrior literally guards your back. I can imagine the little young warrior here has turned around to greet her spiritual tortoise, who guards her back with the combined strength of her family history. Whatever symbolism or significance it holds for you, I thank you humbly for sharing this beautiful image with me. Receiving a gift from the birthday boy -- another wonderful irony.
Best regards to you,
Ed

Gosh there's so many intricate details in there. It's quite surreal - your art gets better and more detailed every time. This looks so real, it's amazing.
It almost feels as though I'm there, caressing the turtle, I can almost feel the texture of its shell. C:
Wonderful work, as always.

That's true Ponti. As a Artist we need to put variation in our art.
