A bit of concept art. Dunno if I'm gonna add more to the drawing, or leave it as it is.When I had troubles falling asleep, I tried to imagine myself walking in the woods. I kindof let my mind create such
wooden castle as one seen here. Unfortunately, I can't remember anything more of it, so that's what I remebered.
The castle is called "Fordhold", becouse it's the only way to pass the river, and citzens (probably vikings or slavian) are defending it.

I usually sleep so short that I always feel a bit sleepy so I have no problems with falling asleep.
I think that some siege machines would work if were able to shot from long distance. And still you can just cut the supply lines to isolate the castle.
The thing can become simpler if magic exist. Or if you can send a dragon.

And yeah, I can't say siege machines won't solve everything. There's not a castle
that can't be forced with enough strenght or siege.
The trick is to make it not worth for the castle to be taken with such great forces ^^
