EDIT: after literal months I just realized I mixed up West and Pyro in the bios. Pyro is the first kid and West is the 2nd 🤦
Said I would start naming these mini dumps after Taskmaster eps and then immediately forgot to do it the next post
These guys ended up super linked in pairs so I added a combined section to their bios
Also didn’t intend this to have sorta a wlw-mlm solidarity theme but it works out lol .
Prepare for (probably incoherent) ramblings, especially with the twins. I just finished mid term and have been brainstorming on/ off throughout the day with 0 sleep…..
Buck “West” Wild
Design by fizzmitz
AJ x Caramel
Mid-20s
“Gender? Hardly know her”
She/They; but not opposed to other pronouns
Questioning/ very uncertain but will say lesbian if asked
Goth-Folk rock bassist
Rebellious and moody
Can grow badass facial hair and relentlessly tease Ro for his weak mustache
Has a very rough speaking voice
Was very sensitive to smoke, which she found out a bit to far into her rebellious smoking phase
But it was mostly damaged after getting caught in a fire in the Everfree
Would it be too angsty for it to be Pyro that started it…. probably unless it was them doing stupid shit together
Pyro
Design by fizzmitz
Blaze x Sunset (might change her)
Early 20s
“Gender? Hardly know her” electric boogaloo
He/They
Intersex, queer
Tattoo artist
Claims hairstyle is a choice but it mostly arose from him constantly burning off his mane
Mostly does medical tattoo work (covering blemishes, adding details back post surgery, etc) but occasionally does artistic pieces for friends
Rambling Notes
Both of them got their scars in the same event
While Ro was learning to fly, he crashed into West, who was running after him
Blaze teaches special ed at the small Ponyville school
The two met in his class
Ro (and Blaze) is HoH and West has ADHD and Dyslexia that manifested as aggressive outburst from frustration
Both know Hoof Language/ ESL (equine sign language)
Ro’s hearing has improved slightly but, especially after West’s vocal damage, he prefers to communicate with ESL
Welp, I had a sliver of an idea and then suddenly i’ve rambled out several pages about the unstable political environment of the CE (I blame just finishing ACOC right before this)
I feel like i’m going to have to do like a Happy AU for them already
Achilles and Sappho
Designs by MoccaBliss
I didn’t intend for their story to turn out so weird/ creepy but the consequences of Candence’s magic is a theme I’ve wanted to explore and I feel like how I drew them ended up unsettling?
IDK that why I don’t really draw pupils
I might end up swapping this story to another Cadence offspring cause I just wanted these guys to be cute wlw / mlm twins BUT also i’ve kinda go a solid story for them now so i dunno
Names based on sapphic/achillean with some, mostly unintentional themes pulled from their mythos
I brainstormed Sappho to be a poet/ lyricist and Achilles to be a (war/general) advisor that was an expert strategist but having Achilles narrow down on weaknesses was just too thematic to pass up
The twins are fairly close, even if they don’t seem like they have much in common nor do they always play the perfect opposite to the other
A stranger might see Achilles as the cold, detached, and analytical, “left brain” type and Sappho is the kind, caring, and creative, “right brain” type.
But that is only a surface level assessment
The twins inherited a similar brand of magic to Cadence
They can “see” the truth of another's heart (in the form of some sort of internal magic)
Achilles can “see” the weakness/ fears/ etc in an pony’s heart (while I say pony, this magic can be seen in most sentient species)
Sappho on the other hand can “see” desires, pleasures, etc of a pony’s heart
Technically both twins can “see” the same information but Achilles chooses to focus on weakness and Sappho focuses on desire
Knowing weakness’ help with seduction of desires and visa versa
I’m still brainstorming the mechanics of their magic and Cadence’s (an the ethical issues behind it)
I think Cadence might be able to adjust these truths to create positive emotions and connections
Ranging from easing nerves to creating instant and intense love/ affection/ etc
When she found out they had a similar magic that could significantly influence another being, if not outright control them, she drilled the idea that their words had power and they need to be careful
Especially after Shining was controlled by Chrysalis, Cadence has been super weary of her magic
The CE is constantly under outside attack as it is on the outskirts of Equestria; attacking it sends a clear message to the Rulers of Equestria without giving just cause to mobilize and declare full out war
Also it borders an icy wasteland that holds many evil forces
I also imagine that the political climate of the CE has never been… kind, but especially in the current time. The court is full of deceptive, power hungry, and unforgiving families that will spring at any sign of weakness
All this to say, Cadence was unable to continue ruling (likely passed away or is very ill) for more than a few years post canon.
Very briefly, Shining and Sunburst tried to temporarily hold the throne, to allow the twins to be children for a little bit longer, but the Court was outraged that there was nobody with royal blood on the throne, even temporarily.
When Sappho, barely a teen, was crowned the Princess of the Crystal Empire and her brother, anointed as the primary advisor, the most influential non-royal title, enemies in the court assumed that power would be easy to grab.
Unfortunately they underestimated the cunning of Achilles and perhaps even worse, they underestimated Sappho
Achilles
Design by MoccaBliss
He/Him
Very analytical and blunt
But not (usually) unkind
As previously mentioned, he can see the “truth” in a pony’s heart
Which is the extend of his magical use
Unlike Cadence and his sister, he has no ability to magical influence, let alone control, others. Any influence/leverage he has is allowed to calculated, strategic moves and a sharp silver tongue
Therefore, he understands that his words have immense power
Both as his role as a prince and through magic
He cares deeply for those around him, more than his exterior might let on
So for better or for worse, if he turns his silver tongue on a target, it is going to hurt
Both the twins, but especially him, were pretty frail at birth
Which lead to Cadence and Shining to be very protective
Many a sparring rounds they sat out growing up where they learned the basics for self defense and not much more
Which is unfortunate, because combat is where his true talent lies
Maneuvering through the volatile political “battleground” of the Crystal Courts was enough to get him his CM but it never came naturally the way a talent should.
His practiced and trained tongue would never match the easy he could bite with a blade
When he demonstrated talent growing up, Shining let him spar with his troops occasionally but those days are far past now that Achilles has a primary role in the Courts
It would be absolutely ghastly for a highly ranked noble, outside of the guard, to wield a sword
When the politics get to much, he escapes into his disguise/ allies “Lucien” to enter sparring competitions
Sappho
Design by MoccaBliss
She/Her
At first glance, she might seem sweet and naive, far too soft for the harsh world of politics, especially in the CE
But underestimating her is exactly what she wants
Like her brother, she can see the truth magic in a heart but unlike her brother, her magical influence continues passed just looking
Sappho has a “Charmspeak” / “Siren Song” type magic and can make other do something if she wants to
While Achilles has to rely on his quick wit, sharp tongue, and careful strategy, Sappho can just command it so.
She doesn't even have to be particularly persuasive but thats all part of the “game” It's not fun if she just gets what she wants
While she doesn’t hold the same deep conviction about her “words having power” she has her own form of discretion. She doesn’t want to make anyone do anything. If she can’t persuade/ seduce/ heavily suggest someone to do something, then what's the point
It's unknown if Sappho knows she has the power to force her will on others. When Cadence saw that she did not gain the same conviction of her power that Achilles did, she devised the “it's all a game” angle.
Which will likely have consequence one way or another
Also like her brother, her talent lies elsewhere. When she channels her “charmspeak” it comes out soft, cooing and coxing, usually in lilting prose of poetry or gently sung lyrics.
That was enough for her to gain a CM but writing poems, lyrics, and other artful works is her true calling.
Rather than using barely throughout verses like a siren, to do her bidding and manipulations, she wishes she could spend time crafting something proper for others to hear, not to manipulate but simple because she wants to share.
Occasionally sneaks out with her brother to the matches, where she’ll also go in disguise, Cupid’s Bow. Once she dared to perform but even with no intend, she watched the crowed fall under the influence of her magic
So now she’ll only enter the archery games
