April 2007I actually doodled the picture for this nearly two years ago I believe. I had coloured an earlier version of this with a mouse, but never showed it.
So I re-did the whole thing with my tablet instead (started from the doodle again). It turned out much nicer. ^^

It's the look I was going for. Mesherew has that classic 'Egyptian jackal/dog/wolf' look. Nearly like a black greyhound. (Did you know that salukis (predecessors of greyhounds) were the first dog breed? They were the ones pictured in old Egyptian art.

I knew they were the first breed, but I didn't realize that that was the name for them. Saluki...that has a pretty sound to it. I'll bet that name is taken on Neo, though. x3

Salukis still exist. They're considered sacred dogs in the middle east. They're built much like greyhounds, but there is a 'sily' breed that has long silky ears, tail and leg feathering.

He never handles being hit on very well. Mesherew becomes very shy whenever that happens. Often loosing his train of thought for awhile.

It's actually the picture from his next page. So he needed both the head shot and his normal picture. It's just a coincidence that they both had the moon in the background. ^^
