Here is Ruby! My fox pelt.Very very nicely done fox. I got her from ebay and the person does a nice job making their faces look lifelike. Very red fox!

I was wondering, how do they die? I love the pelts and how well they're "cleaned" I guess that's the word, but I've always wondered how they die D: either way, beautiful :3

I hope it's a nice way ono like they where really ill and they where put down, or the baby ones where abandoned and couldn't survive or something, I wouldn't be able to stand it if they where bred or captured ;n;

It depends on where the foxes come from. This was most likely a wild fox, so it was most likely trapped or snared. If it was trapped it was probably either shot or strangled with a dispatch pole (to keep the fur nice). Most snares are designed to catch the animal around the neck and choke it out within a few seconds so it dies quickly.
If this animal was ranched, it was bred and raised specifically for its fur. So when it reached the optimum size it was either electrocuted (once again to preserve the fur), lethally injected, or strangeled.
It is rare for pelts this nice to be roadkill because they are usually destroyed.

Yeah, that does make sense. And I don't get why people don't understand that if a fox is bred to be used for pelts, it's not going to know any better than what it already has, so it's barely cruel if you think about it. If you let it outside at least once, and keep it in the cage or whatever they do for the rest of it's life, then THAT's cruelty. Some people ._.

thanks! Hmmm..kinda hard to explain, it's like a leathery, sometimes rawhide-ish smell. But the older they are the more the smell wears off.
