in all honesty, I never took that idea for granted.
I always thought that Donkey Kong only kidnapped Pauline cuz he didn't know any better.
Plus I never really thought Mario abused DK by his own free will. I mean seriously, he was listed as a carpenter not an animal tamer (that was Ruby Spears' concept for the TV Show).
In my mind I always thought that Mario only captured DK just to get revenge for DK kidnapping Pauline.
