Tutorial Level: INTERMEDIATE.
Students are expected to know basic metalsmithing terms and techniques such as but not limited to:
anneal, quench, how to hammer, how to use torch, and torch safety.
Tools List:
- 6 inch copper pipe - 1/2 or 3/4 inch thick
- Anvil/steel block
- Chasing/ballpeen hammer
- Nylon hammer
- Dapping punches
- Small embossing hammer
- Cross peen hammer (optional)
- Chasing tools/design stamps (optional)

- Torch (Mine is a propane torch)
- Soldering blocks
- A bowl of cold water (to quench hot metal)
- Copper tongs
- Third hand
- Pickle
- Baking soda solution (to neutralize pickle)
