Oh! It's a thing about 'AUs' :3c
You basically take a character and then put it through a whole new past and world.
AU = Alternate Universe
it'd be as if I took you
and we imagined a world where your entire life were different if you made one different choice
or we simply styled your world different, like...steampunk
XD It's a bit confusing, but you sort of catch on the more you look into it/come into contact with it.

I get the AU concept but simply out of curiosity - doesn't it count as rip-off as well? Because it's the copyrighted character you're taking and changing a little to your liking to generate your own storyline with it.
