Who is everybody so obsessed with that Lon King stuff, yet another live-action, we-are-out-of-ideas movie from Disney just to cash-in on the same story twice. Beauty and the Beast was a waste of time and money, despite having Ewan McGregor in it. Also, no-one sings like animated Gaston.

It's a nostalgia thing. These movies are meant to capture the audience who grew up on, and out of these movies. by providing the "adult" version.
I do think there are too many remakes these days. But if you think about it, nothings truly unique.
Besides. Sometimes remakes work. Take Evildead Two for example. as confusing as it is that's the one that truly kicked off the series.
