Gosh, I've had this little beauty in my room for a good month or so. But she's part of a series that I just finished last night so I decided to wait 'till I finished all three to put them up.
This is the first in a series with my chipmunk characters (no, they do not sing) and the seasons. There may be four seasons, but there are only 3 pictures in the series because chipmunks are not very active in the winter XD
I was inspired to draw this particular one after I saw Kung Fu Panda. There was a very lovely scene in it where the old turtle dies and is carried away by a large amount of plum blossom petals. It was so beautiful, it almost made me cry. But the flowers in the background are mock orange flowers because I have a tree with said flowers in my backyard. The flower in Skyna's mouth is a honeysuckle, because if you know from experience, it is possible to get a taste of sweet out of the flower.
I try to give my chipmunk characters clothing that could be made by objects in nature, for Skyna I made a skirt out of a poppy flower (I had a real one for reference) and a leaf for a tube top. And if you were wondering, Skyna is an albino chipmunk ^-^
It was difficult to scan, and I am not completely satisfied with the scanned image, but I love how the piece turned out in person.
