Description
First, I start with putting down the initial placement, Unison pastel as usual on Sansfix paper. I want to keep the triangular composition strong with three main points of light interest; the rest should follow. I usually then start working on the detail of the face, then the hands, and finally the fire. The shadows need some darkening and I don't want to add too much detail to the fireplace in case it distracts. I final check that everything is balanced then the main challenge is not to overwork!Download for original size.
