I have a question I'm a complete novice so what is the grain line and what do you do with it to make sure its right like when you said to follow the grain line?

lol,I'm not that good! The grainline is the way that fabric is woven. If you look at a piece of fabric it's woven in a way that produces two lines - a warp and a weft (vertical and horizontal). By keeping the pattern following this line it makes sure that the fabric flows and matches up when its sewn up and also that it hangs right. When somethings not cut on those lines (intentionally) it's called (in UK at least) being cut on the cross. Garments like this can be really difficult to wear unless your a twig as they hang differently (It has led to many a frustrated comment in many depatment stores over the years )
