Description
Poor Madeline, stuck on guard duty on a rainy day in a remote outpost.—————
Daz scouted the fortress and hooked Madeline up with her armor. She even tried to relieve some of the boredom with some playing cards. Iray handled the lights. Photoshop perhaps went too far on the negatives. NIK, Jr., back in duty after a friction burn following the last shot, did the toning.
——————
The first day I put this up, it got a fairly typical number of views and somewhat more favorites for my pieces. Then I woke up today, and it's gotten 40 new favorites, making it my most favorited piece of all time, and 393 new views, making it one of my most viewed pieces. Wow. I'm not clear how it got such exposure, but I'm not complaining.

Madeline keeps a very busy life these days. ha She looks bored and boredom gives way to thinking entirely too much and not sure if that's good for Madeline right now. Great feel to this London and I particularly love the lighting and how it casts its shadows in all those directions...just totally makes this scene. Love it.

It was hard work to get the bored pose right, so Madeline didn't suffer too much from a wondering mind
Thanks. I've been trying to come up with a good fantasy render and didn't have any good traditional combat-y ideas. So I went with waiting on guard duty.

you succeeded in it for sure. I love a good pose that can translate what the person is thinking or feeling....makes for a much more compelling image.

Thanks! I'm baffled by how popular this was for one day (almost 500 views yesterday) and then not the next (only 13 so far today). But this clearly resonated with a lot more people than my images usually do.

Hehe... so Madeleine hopes she would be demoted from guard duty and allowed to go home if she doesn't follow the protocol, creates a mess, drinks beer, plays cards, etc. while on guard duty... Maybe, but what if there is some other form of punishment for that... Quite a risk!
Great image... I like how you set up all the lights to create an atmosphere of a castle interior!

It's hard to get a dedicated guard! I'm not sure the neglect of duty is intentional as much as the by-product of boredom, but, yes, it is quite a risk!
Thanks. I really liked the lighting/atmosphere on this. It was definitely one of those renders that taxed my machine, to the point I couldn't quite get it big enough for all the details. I might revisit this one when I have a better rendering computer.

You are very welcome! Madeline better be careful then, so as not to get into trouble with her supervisors (although I am not sure who those could be)...

Thanks! It was noisier than I hoped, so I feel it lost some of the charming details (the little blob of light under the bench is an eaten apple; the coins on the ground didn't come out, etc.), but I loved the all the other stuff.
