Description
*looks around stealthily*The person whom this is for doesn't appear to watch my sketch gallery. Good. I think I'm safe.
This is for the PE Seasons' Avatar exchange, where you dress up the character as if they are the avatar of your assigned season- in this case, I was assigned summer. I won't say who this is of or whom it is for, but I would really like some C&C. I've gotten some great feedback on it already, but I'd like to make this as tight a compositon and lineart as I can before I ink it.
Things that I've already fixed since scanning:
*Made the feet more slender and curved more to fit the distortion of the globe
*Fixed her lips and chin in the globe-girl version (made them smaller, more refined)
Things that I'm going to fix before I ink:
*Even up her jawline, move the hair that's covering the left side of her face
*Fix her right thumb (our left), move it down a little and change the angle
*Add in lotuses to the upper corners and papyrus plants around her hips and the lower half of the composition.
Sooo....please help me out on improving this as much as I can! Critique away, but please be constructive. Thanks much! ^^

I already said so at PE, but this is pretty damn impressive I think. The detail and the composition make this pretty hard to not notice. Incredible work so far, I'm really looking forward to seeing this finished

Thank you so much, Brianne!
I've put in some lotus flowers and papyrus plants in the corners, it makes the composition tighter, I think. I can't wait to start inking it!

the head... looks funny, on our left side (her right), the temple/forehead area looks kinda wide, and it seems like her facial features might be a little off center, leaning to her left/our right....
otherwise.... damn girl! i envy you your talent!
she's beautiful, liz..

Her left eye slants down more than her right, I see...that's probably what's causing the off-kilter look of her face. I'm definitely going to fix her temple, the headband is really hard to work with because I'm not sure how to make her hairline go because of it. O_o
Thanks for the crit!

this is a really strong piece, sweetie. I cannot WAIT to see it finished!
I'm highly impressed with her hands, first off. (Of course, I love to draw hands so I'm usually pretty critical about them)
I like where you're going with the globe? I think it's a strong element. The scarab looks really good there too.
I agree with the changes you plan on making. Good luck!
*is still in awe*

Thank you so much!
I had my roommate model the hands for me, otherwise they would have looked like crap. XDD
I haven't worked on this in a looooong while, I'd better get cracking before the exchange ends. O_O

From Merriam-Webster's online dictionary:
Main Entry: avΒ·aΒ·tar
Pronunciation: 'a-v&-"tΓ€r
Function: noun
Etymology: Sanskrit avatAra descent, from avatarati he descends, from ava- away + tarati he crosses over -- more at UKASE, THROUGH
1 : the incarnation of a Hindu deity (as Vishnu)
2 a : an incarnation in human form b : an embodiment (as of a concept or philosophy) often in a person
3 : a variant phase or version of a continuing basic entity
Basically it's an incarnation of a god or a concept in human form, a representation of something else.
It never really made sense to me why our userpics are called "avatars," I guess it's because it's a representation of ourselves, sort of.

The line behind her right hand....seems to make that area appear too big in comparison to the left...other then that, can't see anything you didn't hit up.

Her right hand or the one on our right? If you mean her right hand, I think I see what you're talking about...I'll thin that down and try to shape it a little better. Thanks for the crit! ^^
