Personality: Matt is introverted and doesn't typically looks for other people's attention. He has a good nature that tends to be clouded by a rather cold attitude. Mischievious, proud and rather selfish, his parasite influenced greatly his personality during his developement as an infected. As such, Matt primes individuality and will try to achieve things on his own if he can help it, but often ends up requiring help due to his lack of general knowledge. While he often act out of duty rather than kindness, he will show a warmer side once you get close enough to him.

Backstory:

Intro: Matthew Blackthorn grew up in the slums of Neo city to a low middle class family. Unlike his older sister Sarah, he clearly was an accident, getting less love and attention from his parents. This caused him to develop lots of insecurities trouhought his childhood. He was socially inept, bullied, bad at school and seemed to struggle with the most mundane tasks. Things only got worse when his sister, the only person who showed him any kind of support and affection, died of illness at a young age. This event made him fall into a deep depression, which had reached its peak at the age of 18. Walking aimlessly on a hill one day, he stared down at the forest below, contemplating the prospect of ending it all. Not having the guts to act, he looked up while shedding a tear of frustration, only for the hedge of hill he was standing too close on, to collapse under him, making him go through what would have been a lethal fall, had it not been for the trees under, softening his descent. Grievously wounded, he weakly tried to get up, but quickly gave up at the prospect of getting help. That's when his gaze would meet with what appeared to be a tiny hare parasite, apparently also on the verge of death, slowly crawling towards him.

Being a omnipresent part of society, Matt knew all too well what parasites were all about. Enough for his gaze to strangely turn blank, like he had made a choice. He stayed down without moving an inch, until the critter reached his extended palm, almost as if it was offering him to enter. The infection took place, leading him to flail in pain before eventually losing consciousness. Waking up in what seemed a dark void, he was merely in the thoughts of the new owner of his body. The parasite eventually interacted with him, explaining him what he was in for. As Matt told him he was fully aware of it all, it asked him why he didn't tried to escape when he saw him crawl towards him, or tried to regain his body. Matt told him he had lost interest in life and figured it would be probably best to give his body to someone who would make better use of it.

Vegey wasted no time letting him know he was the most pathetic being it was given to lay its eyes on, but was still grateful that he was there when it was about to die itself. To demonstrate its gratitude, it exceptionally gave him one last chance to reconsider his choice and take over his body for them to share. Being showed gratitude and any kind of consideration, for what seemed an eternity, made him extremely emotional. He accepted and with lots of struggles, managed to shift back into his human form. He and his parasite started to get to know each other very early on, wasting no time showing Matt the ropes of what his new body had to offer. Its confident, sometime borderline arrogant attitude, helped greatly his host overcoming his own insecurities and shaping up a personality of his own overtime. Matt learned how to shift into symbiote and experiment with his new abilities for quite some time, until they decided to test what he learned in the form of parkour.

His initials doubts about his capabilities, slowly disappeared as he proved himself able to parkour his way trough the slums surprisingly fluently. This sens of accomplishment made him smile with genuine joy and laughs, the excitement of it all leading him further and further as he kept parkouring forward, until he unknowingly reached the city's rooftops. Feeling more alive than ever, he stopped on a rooftop, enjoying the view. A tamed woman surprised him there, as she observed his arrival from this very spot, asking him if he was actually looking for trouble by parkouring, collarless no less, around the city like that.

After a short introduction, she quickly figured by his appearance and demeanor, that he was somehow, not aware about all the rules regarding infected around there. She explained him he shouldn't mess around without a collar like he was doing and that it was only a matter of time before the GG would show up to interpale him. Sure enough, the GG spotted him and immediately shouted from below for him to surrender quietly, as he clearly was not registered. Blinded by euphoria, he had completely failed to noticed he had left the slums and was now in the city. Mortified, he was about to comply with them, before his parasite made it perfectly clear that he would rather die than have his freedom taken away in any shape or form, especially by humans. His parasite pressuring him heavily into running away, while soldiers were growing impatient and threatened to act, lead him to ultimately panic and run away. It gave place to a chase between them and the GGs, which after many close calls, allowed them to escape.

Frustrated with being essentially wanted, Matt didn't know what to do, only for his parasite to tell him they would figure things out eventually. The proceeded to live in the wilderness and the slums for over a year, getting used to their new lives as they met with other strays and lived off the land and trades. One day, Matt helped a small group of infected driving off a chimera, claiming to have done so out of spite because it presumably nearly killed him one day. After witnessing his potential and the circumstances behind his forced exile, one of them offered him to join Harmony. Tired of having nowhere to go and to constantly be famished, Matt accepted while his parasite reluctantly accepted the fact they needed help. He now works alongside them, hoping to find a purpose by helping them with their noble cause

-Due to his deep awareness of his symbiotic relationship with his parasite, Matt has a tendency to use *we* when referring to himself, especially during missions and other tasks requiring their abilities.

- His parasite named Vegey had a huge influence with the development of Matt's personality. While he didn't became arrogant like him, it helped him tremendously into becoming more confident and daring, even if he still has work to do.

-Vegey primarily sees his symbiotic relationship as a mean to finally get to (indirectly) defend himself against enemies and feels great satisfaction whenever they fight defeat an opponent.

- While he and his parasite don't always see eye to eye, Matt holds him in high regard for being the one helping him turning new leaf, essentially saving his life.

- Developed a deep love for parkour and spends much of his time out doing so. Challenging him to a race is a good way to get close to him.

- Constantly looks somewhat grumpy, but in reality just has a tired look due to his lack of sleep, presumably due to being connected with an animal of prey.

- Can become snappy when being mistaken, purposely or not ,for a rabbit infected.

Reaching his bleeding hand to it, as if he was offering it to enter, the parasite made its way trough the wound, which led to the infection.
