High end stuff, for real. As someone who's tried to draw this kind of ringworld-type sci-fi, I have to say its crazy difficult to get on the level you've achieved with this.

thanks man - i actually had to take quite a few unsuccessful runs at this before figuring out how to best draw it. It took thinking about the landscape as a stepped pit (and turning the drawing sideways) for me to be able to get my brain around it! (i even tried building a 3d model of this but couldnt get the right thing going in google sketchup.

Yep - the whole 'they've forgotten they are on a spaceship' is a good trope, but not one i wanted to use in this one. (i love heinlein's "universe")

How much technology do they still understand?

It's not the classic 'we've forgotten we're on a spaceship' world, but they basically only have limited domestic goods they can print off of a handful of ancient 3d printers, and whatever they can grow or recover from the ruins. Plus i imagine education has hugely declined, so they probably dont know a ton about anything too complex

This is genius, the way we're fooled into thinking its a classic O'Neil cylinder before our preconceptions are thrown right back in our face by the little band of primitives in the forest.

I always like the idea of an advanced space faring culture collapsing leaving behind advanced technology though out the galaxy and the most decadent of their society becoming rulers.

Sure! There's cool stuff in ELYSIUM - I thought Matt Damon did surprisingly well as a cyber-punk dock worker, and the ROBOTS were amazing!
